A speeding pickup truck hit three vehicles on the opposite side of the road in Nakhon Ratchasima on Sunday evening, causing 13 injuries.

The accident happened at 6.45pm on the Dan Khunthod-Nong Suang road in Dan Khunthod district.

Police said the truck driver, Suchart Muenkhunthod, 53, who was among the injured, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Witnesses said his pickup was speeding and was seen swaying left and right before it hit the three vehicles in the opposite lane.

Police said Suchart's pickup first hit a car driven by Prachuap Datsanthia, 49, before it lost control and hit a pickup driven by Sakhon Namkhunthod, 43, and continued to hit a pickup driven by Aroon Prakhamsi, 55.

All the injured were taken to Dan Khunthod Hospital.

This really have news value out of enormous proportions! A crash with 13 injured, but nobody died at the scene. I guess that never happened before.

The newsvalue is in the drunk driver that was speeding. That barely happens in Thailand.

Have a heart, he was pissed as a newt. May be next time ( there will be a next time), he can try harder to kill someone!!?

yep, it is very uncommon for Thai drivers to be drunk at the wheel. Was there any mention that he was charged or was it another big laugh down at the cop shop?

Thank Buddha nobody was killed for once and I hope the injured will not have serious problems.

I wish them well soon.

As for the driver, he should have the truck confiscated and a spell in jail with a long loss of his license (if he has one).

Reminds me of the old story of when a drunk driver was stopped by the police:

"You are drunk, why are you driving?" asked the police.

"Well I was too drunk to walk home!" was the answer...
