Cant let intellectuals speak! Maybe someone will listen and all will realise we are stupid, abusive, greedy, childish, slave driving, poverty indusing scum...

Police never do there job so why today do they do what they are told. Fear? I think the majority of thai bib are just scared little pathetic individuals like the monkeys controlling them.

This is democracy Thai style.

The PM has stated he wants to bring happiness to the people.??

This is happiness Thai style, sad so sad, we are the rulers, you do anything, we will stop you by force.

The sad thing that is happening here is that many of the people in los actually believe that  with elections and political posturing  los is a Democracy. Wake up people ,los is a military run country with the veil of democracy covering it.

As soon as the bullshit started over demonstrations and other activiti8es deemed illegal by the NCPO , ( although they were only exercising their rights under the constitution ) you knew there was only one way this was going to end . Democracy is democracy no matter how you try to change it. Civilo rights and Freedoms so opften ignored by this current government is now reaping what it sows. Bated breath everyone bated breath.

And once again history starts to repeat itself...

Do you notice how almost all of the protesters are old women, probably desperate to make a quick thou without to much energy put out.

I do believe we have all seen similar behavior several years ago, most probably paid for by the same person !

I can understand the "protesters" concerns but, not a smart move because it will give the PM the opportunity to once again delay the 'much vaunted, regularly promised' elections.

UNLESS, hidden behind these protestors and egging them on is a group wanting the current regime not to change?! :whistling:

You don't need democracy to prosper? Prosper how? How are you gauging happiness? By how much money people have?

Corruption does exist everywhere. What doesn't exist everywhere is how a government deals with it. When you can wear 25+ luxury watches and seemingly get away with it scot free, that doesn't exist everywhere. Democracy is there to hold people accountable.

People like the Shinawatras?……….?‍♀️

The voters do not decide who wins elections. The people who count the votes decide who wins elections. Can you spell Venezuela ?

That also wasn’t democracy. Don’t confuse people wanting democracy with people wanting Thaksin back.

Bringing Happiness Back to the People...

There's only so much oppression that people will put up with.

Should have let them march, by preventing them it just highlights the abuse of human rights occurring under the military regime..

Yes its been coming and this may  only be  the start. I was in the Philippines when "People Power" rid the country of Marcos,it wasnt pretty.

Not drawing a direct comparison but when people feel confident they wont be arrested they have confidence and the movement gains momentum.

There is no reason an election  date can't be locked in right now,no more speculation, that just may keep a lid on things

if only it were possible to separate the two in Thailand …….and therein lies the problem!! That democracy can be bought and paid for and then corrupted further!!

And what have the junta done? It’s been four years and they’ve had absolute power. Perfect opportunity to allow democracy to prosper and all they’ve done is change the rules to benefit them.

Only yesterday we see a message from those that want Thaksin back in power. When he goes away I will agree with you about the junta - until then it is necessary to keep him separated from Thailand by force if necessary. The mistake was letting him leave the country when he went “to the olympics” everyone knows the cycle of events - everyone knows the cause and the symptoms!!

Okay, and we all know what happens to people with too much power. You're witnessing it first hand.

The Junta  is not expected to do anything for the country ,The Junta is there for the Junta. They will allow at times some politician's to run the county  to make money for their political party and the Junta with some trickling down to the citizens If they are dissatisfied with not getting their larger sum of the pie then they will stage a coup to show who is running the country. It is never about the people.

No matter who is in power this will always be the problem in Thailand. It is simply a part of the "rules" and political culture, that when you get to power, you grab what you can.

No different than at Tuk Tuk driver trying to get double prize, when he sees the chance.
