I'm sure they do put a good few of them away, it's just not broadcast to the same extent as US, EU and other nationalities.

At least not in the English language media.

Good, another one off the streets.

Jail him here, remember he's only stated he didn't distribute, and make sure it's a good many years before he goes back to a cushy jail in Switzerland or wherever.

And what about the local perps.

Or is it another exercise to blame the farang?

No matter who did a good job to arrest the culprit,  no matter if there are also Thai pedophiles all over Thailand, or whatever,,,,,,,,,,,,,it's always one less scumbag on the loose.

The local perps do it "hands-on", circumventing on-line tracing. Half the village knows of certain "goings-on", but nobody will open their mouth. Especially not, if the perpetraitor is a person "of importance".TIT.

Pol Maj-Gen Surachet said that they had shutdown 700 illegal pornographic websites and are closing in on some of the people who operate them

Without being too critical against the authorities carrying out these operations, if they went after the people who ran these websites before shutting them down, that should increase their arrest numbers. Also the wording shutdown; does that actually mean they have closed 700 porno websites on Thai servers or just blocked them on the ISPs?

As said, without being too critical. I hope they continue to weed these predators and distributors out of society here and carry on the good fight...........

the US who said he was operating one of the top 10 largest child pornography websites in the world.

I don't understand why no one is able at least to shut down these web sites.

5 years is far not enought fir such people, it just deserve life sentence. No pity for such man, but the hell need so long to arrest it, why US did not sent info to the local police ?

Could be that in these cases they need to make sure the evidence they want has to be carefully collected to ensure the arrest and the case itself is watertight. Rushing in may leave room for doubt somewhere so get it 100% the first time.

Plus time allows them to get a bigger catch in the net not just the one fish.

>>The arrest comes amid continued efforts by law enforcement to arrest foreign pedophiles in Thailand.

Past 20 years, Cat-Mouse has been going on. Thailand need a stink operation like US and other countries do.

They should create some kind of network, that trap these good old criminals. Or Thailand should survey how many such foreigners are living in the rural side, and see if they are doing something wrong.

Then schools should teach the Thai kids that not all are angels coming to Thailand and helping the poor or children, should create awareness what is good touch and bad touch.

Most Thai's believe Farangs are rich and nice, but not all coming for the good reasons here. Even other fellow Farangs should be watchful about this old bugs, because your kids could be another victims too.

You must not be up on the news much every week there are stories simular to this one.

And, you want to survey the rural foreigner? I guess going door to door asking them if they are Peodophiles would work?

Geez....

Yes, but not by Thailand's pretend police who knew nothing about him until he was flagged up by the US authorities. Pretty much normal in these cases - the Thai authorities are oblivious to what is going on in their own country until they are tipped off by authorities from overseas.
