CityNews – Thailand has officially entered the rainy season, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.

The recent downpours have started to cause damage and electrical cut-outs across the city, with Om Koi and Chom Thong most affected.

If the official sign of rainy season is a van crashing on the Doi Suthep road, I am afraid Chiang Mai has no dry season at all.

The Thai Meteorological Department is just figuring this out.  Everyone in our village, especially the farmers, have know this since the weather patterns changed a little over three weeks ago.  Maybe the city-dwellers who don't get out much and haven't had to slog through flooded streets or haven't seen the flooded rice fields needed a 'heads up" 'eh?

If it hadn't have been raining so much lately I would

never have known.

I used to visit the Thai Met Office site frequently, but over the years here, I've come to expect the opposite of whatever they say.   Big storm for the NE of Thailand!!!  Not a cloud in the sky.  When they say nothing, or say "no chance", that's when we get nailed.

Same with Junta.  If they deny something, it's probably true.  ?
