Big Joke brings down Nigerian cocaine dealer - more to follow

Crime buster Surachet Hakpal took center stage at a press conference as the Tourist Police Bureau announced the arrest of two Thai women and a Nigerian in a cocaine bust.

Cops had been told by an informant to look out for a woman called Fon - or Pongrak - who would be loitering about the CDC shopping center in Bangkapi on Tuesday.

They found her and she had some cocaine in her trousers.

In order to get a reduced sentence for possession she agreed to cooperate with investigators and order some more drugs from her supplier.

This led to the arrest of Sataporn Odominam, 26, and James Chikodi Augustine, 36.

A total of 636 grams of cocaine was seized along with a lot of evidence that this was a drug distribution network. This was shown at the press conference as a smiling Maj Gen Surachet joined arresting officers.

Fon was charged with possession and the other two with possession and dealing in cocaine.

The TPB said that as the investigation widens more arrests of "people of color" will follow.

This was a joint operation by the TPB and 191.

He may be Mr Big Joke,  but one has to admit that his operations and results are anything but not a joke !

The boys in his unit must be proud to work with him and one can understand them.

Well done, Sir !

Not important at all! Why should anybody use it?

Yawn, these African dealers are permitted to deal in certain areas as long as they pay off the police. They are completely disposable and can be arrested by the very same police as proof of how great at their jobs they are. The police can then charge them some more money for their freedom, food, earlier release, a piece of cardboard to sleep on, etc.

No high-ranking Thai civil servants paraded in front of the press yet, Big Joke? No, I thought not.

There a lot of bigger jokes in the line up.

3000 baht?!!! You need to tell your dealer that he is ripping you off.

Lots and lots of people can afford that.

It's just great to know they're arresting people who are actually dealing.

Couple of years back the special forces were putting people in jail for 2 years just for knowing or just being a foreigner living in the same building of the culprits which is bs.

If you are Nigerian and you are here in Thailand why would you even go outside.  You will get caught, you can't hide from the obvious.  I guess they just 'do it until we get caught' that attitude seems to be popular ?

In my younger days, it was my drug of choice. IF it were legal I'd be tempted. Some like durian . . .

Same here.  Although I do sometimes wish I hadn't spent on average 80,000 baht a month on it when I was doing it.

Still trying to figure out the large Vice on the desk. Was there to put some-ones head in it or perhaps another part of their anatomy? How odd......!
