Car Rental

Featured Replies

I have made a few trips from Ubon to CR lately and the 2k-km return trip is wearing me out, looking at traveling by plane but this means I need to hire a car when I reach CR. When I looked at the car rental companies at the airport it states they need a credit card which I do not have.

Just checking if there are any rental places in town I can rent a car or pick up without a credit card, only need a run around nothing flash or new.

Some of the guest houses do or can arrange car rentals, a suggestion would also be to ask where they do motorbike hire if they could provide a car.

I'm not sure what you would need to do regarding covering the car owners if you had no credit card, maybe they would accept you leaving your passport with them as a guarantee.

A number of car rental agencies at the airport and downtown, including National - google car rental chiang rai for map and details

Yes, I think he's tried them but they want a credit card to cover any damage to the car.

I was hoping to find somewhere who have the same package as this company offer in CM, https://expatautocm.com/car-rentals/

There is no way I will give my passport as a guarantee, only a copy.

If its going to be a hassle I will purchase a cheap pick up and leave at my friends house.

I was only guessing about the passport, based on what can happen elsewhere.

I suppose it's to guarantee that you come back with their vehicle.

I think you might find  buy a used pickup your best bet in the long run. It seem all over Thailand people are absconding with vehicle's rented with dogey  paperwork and these vehicles are ending up outside the country.
