My query is specifically aimed at 3BB Fibre services but may also apply to other suppliers.  This may have been covered before but I could not find any reference to it.

The intra-Thailand speeds quoted on all the three 3BB Fibre plans are more than adequate for most of us falangs, I would guess.  Falangs generally are more interested in the international speeds.

My query is, as you upgrade to a higher speed plan do you expect that the international speed of the line to be correspondingly higher?

I ask as the international speed to UK on my 200/100 fibre connection does not seem to be any better than my friend’s 30/10 VDSL connection.

Test results, using Speedtest and Testmy.net, are so variable as to make comparisons difficult.

Does anyone have any insight or info?

Thanks.

Yessir, it's an inexact science. I recommend http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest. If you dig around the site you can set it to UK targets. I have 200/100 service and just tested it to New York and California. The result was 51/56 megabits. Obviously there's no way you could get that on 30/10 service.

I think my 200/100 link is a great bargain but if  maximum value were my only priority I would downgrade to the 100/50 offer.

Just get 200/100

https sites get better speed in 3bb and you can enjoy 80-160 mbps to singapore on a single https connection

europe etc can get 40mbps+ on https via single connection again.

google services gets 200 mbps stable download speed thanks to peering

upload speed to google drive is 100 mbps, great for cloud.

I have been with 3BB for over 2 years, starting with vdsl 20/4, then 30/10 and the last 4 weeks with 100/30 fiber.  I stream Netflix from their US servers, US TV, UK BBC I-Player, AUS 7-Plus and online game with PlayStation 4.  The only reason I now have 100/30 is due to a faulty LAN connection on the vdsl modem.  I took it to the 3BB office to get a replacement, was told they did not have any and I should upgrade to fiber.  Basically, I see no difference in my performance needs  between fiber and vdsl other than the cost.
