An extraordinary bank robbery on the outskirts of Bangkok featured a man enter a bank in a surgical mask, take a queue ticket from the machine then produce a gun before stealing 300,000 from two drawers.

After briefly threatening a customer with the .38mm gun he has the door opened for him by security and makes the getaway.

The robbery happened at the Siam Commercial Bank Kanchanaphisek branch in Bang Waek.

The 170 cm tall man seemed to be wearing the surgical mask around his chin.

Police and forensics on the scene had cordoned off the area before reporters arrived.

A meeting of investigators was then arranged.

The CCTV was posted on YouTube by Manager.

  • That security guard is certainly up for promotion to an inactive post.

A meeting of investigators was then arranged. Well that would fix nothing, waiting for a committee to be formed, to discuss the next move.

Which would curtail his door-opening activities.

Is it remotely possible he didn't think about the consequences of his mug being plastered all over Thailand?

He better spend the cash fast on a good time  unless  he can deposit it in the  upcoming prison canteen.

A little courtesy goes a long way.

When not robbing banks he has the surgical mask covering his face wherever he goes...so he will be hard to track down [emoji38]

When the 300,000 has been spent he will be back with service like that.

I dont know why employers bother hiring  Thai security guards.

Must have something to do with your insurance policy.

Certainly has nothing to do with security. it.

Half the time theyre in on it.

...he forgot to wai the man before opening the door for him.  Promotion will be considered by the committee, under the sub committee, of the inactive post board of directors, on approval by the NSFY (no soup for you) Major Superduper General.  ...and this will only proceed if generous gift envelopes are received in a timely manner.  *esus, are you new here??? ?

Security seems very keen in open/close the door only. His job will  be replaced by a robot.

Seems he is like money collector, not like a robber, he made quite bit of money with a tussle.

And the drawers are so wonderfully located to pick on the run. Good to see the how great is the security laps.

Hahahaha.....this is exactly the same as security staffs shining a flash light at passengers bags. Keep it up. Brilliant Thai security.

He has been replaced by a robot in 7 Eleven already. It even speaks to you as you enter.

The flash-light is there to prove we're no longer in the dark ages.

Well, the robber was armed with a gun and threatened a customer, so he did the right thing to let the guy leave quickly as possible.

Or would you rather see that the (mostly untrained) security guy blocks the robber and creates a dangerous situation. Remember that the robber is desperate!

If I was in the bank I rather see the robber leave asap!

The ones around my area just say " Bing Bong"   you must live in a Hi-So area  ?

There was an odd moment in the whole scene when he went from the front to the money draw area ,instead of being petrified the girl took a quick glance at the cctv location..............not a word was spoken (by the girls) when he walked towards the guards......anyway......300.000 by 3 persons .........Neh.....not enough!

they will catch the guy in no time fingerprints on the chair and table etc.....i would shoot the security guard in the knee because not doing his job...his job should be to get the man down...not to open the door...

often when observing thais how they go about things I think...loonatics at work...dont get me wrong i like them and met many nice and honest people ...but when I look close often i see a mix of dont know/dont care/ on the surface happy easy with the permanent smile/ and underlaying violent non responsible non trusting....but maybe I am wrong...

Brilliant how everyone in the place doesn't hardly seem to care !!

The old guy at the counter sorting his papers still probably doesn't know it even happened !! ?

So you vote he had full awareness but he  knew his MO was foolproof?

I'll bet he just  got tired of all the  excessive Thailand  bank fees and was simply  trying to get reimbursement.

I'll vote for that.

Is that in a male or female voice?

In the middle of nowhere in Issan 7 Elevens,  the standard ones say "Sawadee Kha" in a female Thai voice.

The whole point of the headline is that this security guard was not even aware of the robbery, armed or not, taking place on his watch.

I think they call it an "Androidgenous" voice
neither male or female robotic bing bong.
Sometimes the shop assistant will also say Sawadee kha....mainly if she is female...but some of the Katoys do too.

Ah, you have human staff too!

The only thing that would worry me if I heard the Katoy on the checkout telling me of an "unexpected item in the bagging area."

Teabags ?

Yes, I think when she realised they were teabags the excitement disappeared from the voice.
