Near £60,000 for above ..

Yes, nice bikes, read and seen a couple of articles on them.

However, you will have to give him the price in Euros.

They are made (inc the engines) in France...

Got a thing for air cooled Monsters, ever since i saw the first ones in 93-94. Always have, always will.

Even like the new 2018 model 797 with 75 bhp and 50 Ib/ft torque.

Got a test ride booked on one once the weather clears.

Prices have collapsed on the 795-796-1100 models over here. Think i'll have to buy one next year.

Even the 'orrible 821 water cooled ones have prices that have gone silly for a 3-4 y/o bike.

Smooth as Silk .. Came into being at probably the worst possible time just when everyone else were dropping big capacity 2 strokes .. Said to be a good machine to ride with a lot of punch from that engine .. made in Derbyshire and with only 130 odd ever made they fetch big dollars now ..

Check the gearbox out!

Basically a bored and stroked Scott, in a modern rolling chassis

But i concur, very nice machines in the wrong place in the wrong time.

Yeah I hear the gearbox was a Velocette 4 speed job and engine based on Scott's design .. These on the other hand the Hesketh V1000 I've heard are quite fragile in the engine dept but again if you've got one fetch strong dosh now .. Quite like the jade(ish) green paint on this one though ...

Guy on one of my small forums just got a deal on something similar.  I don't know if he kept his Guzzi or not.  He seems to like the relatively simple bikes.

Yep, call me a simpleton too.

Never owned a DOHC bike.

Never owned a water cooled bike.

Never (since i was 17) owned a bike that's had to be worked on in someone else's shop.

Only ever owned 2 FI bikes. Both air cooled Guzzis back in the UK.

If you are a mechanic, you appreciate simple design & engineering.

And 2 valve air cooled Ducatis (OHC) and Moto Guzzis (OHV) are an absolute pleasure to work on.

I was a mechanic at a Suzuki dealership in the US about 1973.  They had pistons and points.  What's a valve?  Cam?  My buddies were running Husqvarna and CZ MX bikes. Along with the odd Ossa and Montesa. Guy up the street ran Bultacos in scrambles or flat track. I did ride a Maico 400 MX bike for about 5 minutes.  Woof!  Scary.

That pic I posted is a 2 valve. Back in about 1973 I saw a used Ducati 250 or 350 single that was of interest, but didn't pursue it.

Edit:  When I get back over there, I'm going to grab a Kawa KLX 150 enduro bike first thing, just because.  40 years ago, I regret not getting an old, restored BMW 250 single.

Ducati never made a 4V air cooled twin. All the air cooled motors are 2V.

Which is why i like them.

I'm a 2-stroke guy, what do I know?  One thingie goes up and down, shit goes in and out. Yeah, never-mind rotary or reed valves. Though we did repair a little Suzuki 100cc bike that someone had tweaked.  Holy shit, that thing screamed!  Our resident MX expert (rode Suzuki 400 and Husky 250s) had all kinds of fun in the gravel parking lot with that one.  Professional test drive, of course.

Ahhh, memories - memories, Bultaco - great stuff

when you, as an American?, say flat track, what do you actually mean?

when I hear flat track I think of two things, speedway - driving around a soccer court about 400 meters (gravel or ice)

or, what we call 1000 meter long track

you do 1000 m long track in the US?

Jap 500 - long stroke engines?

Might be wrong but I thought that the JAPs were quite popular in Europe as a whole,

at least those long stroked engines used for speedway and long track

I seem to recall single cyl JAP's were the engine of choice in speedway before Jawa became popular ..
