Got any idea's on this one chaps 1935 t'is .. I know AJS had a racing V4 during the 30's that raced at the I O M but that was water cooled where as this is aircooled and there don't seem to be no mention of AJS producing and selling V4 road going machines during 30's .. Any thoughts chaps ..

Might be wrong but I thought that the JAPs were quite popular in Europe as a whole,

at least those long stroked engines used for speedway and long track

Found one Melv' ..

wow, ta, so nice

why don't I have smth like that today, so nice, so quick and so simple

(the engine I'm struggling with now is a bit too complex for me)

my fav. would have been a Jap 500 long track bike

with cpla brakes could take it on Kanchanapisek - Vhipavadi-Rangsit etc

in the old days in Norway when there were 1000 meter long track races, it was common

that motocross 250s and motocross 500s and long track bikes started together in the same heats

of course, the motocross bikes took off quickly and vanished rapidly around the first swing and down on the long side

but roughly around halfway down the first long side, the long track bikes had got their act and speed together and just wooshed past

fun ? yes !

the cross bikes (and were never seen again)

Same bike by the looks of the paint job, just another build/incarnation.

Yea looks same machine don't it .. Do you not think that turbo is a backward step .. If more power is the desire there's other ways to it without ruining probably the best looking side of the lump what with the pipes ..

Agree. The one I posted has NOS.

These motors are all about torque. Ridiculous torque. Like more torque than you can shake a stick at.

Stage II is more than 160 Ib ft. Fantastic.

Personally, a blower would be nicer than the turbo....

is still quite popular in Europe, maybe especially in the old communist Europe, ie behind the iron curtain.

not so pop in the US I think?

speedway on ice is also quite pop in  Russia and Eastern Europe

Fancy an Indian ..

Yeah i do.

I had a 500 Scout in the 90's. Basket case. Got it to a rolling chassis, motor still in bits. Never finished it.

Swapped it for another project. Got a couple of pics-gone-purple somewhere.

Another (one of many) regrettable sale....

Now that IS NICE! Sweet!

IMO only spoilt by the green rims - yuk.

Yeah, the matte paint looks nice. Innit.

I think the single is a pre war rigid ES2.

'nuvver Norton - highly highly modified side valve 16H in a more modern pre 65 trials Enfield frame.
