Brexit Secretary David Davis resigns

Brexit Secretary David Davis has resigned from the UK government.

His resignation comes days after Theresa May secured the cabinet's backing for her Brexit plan despite claims from Brexiteers that it was too "soft".

Mr Davis was appointed Brexit secretary in 2016 and was responsible for negotiating the UK withdrawal from the EU.

Hurray! At least there is one person that understands, one has to leave the sinking ship before it hits rock bottom. :cheesy:

Let´s just hope he doesn´t have an expensive life vest too, so that there will be more to pay for the BG.

Especially if you're one of those who punched a hole in it.

Yes, it seems to be many in the BG that have been provided with a hammer and knows exactly how to use it.

Does anyone know if David Davis wrote a resignation letter? It'd be the first document he's produced in the last two years.

I do not know anything about Davis, but that sure is a funny tweet.

Brexiteers MPs threaten to topple May and make JRM PM, what is there not to like. All the gloating and flippancy may be a tad premature by the remainers, don't get too comfortable in your EU Shackleton high chairs, this fiasco is far from over. And remember those that laugh last laugh the longest, best news for months nay years, bring it on. ???

Davis escapes from a Brexit he know cannot be delivered.

He’ll go into hiding, like his pal Farage.

You do not know this, the present form of Brexit is not tenable, neither is Mays position as PM.

May will be toppled and a brexiteer installed to replace the weak May, as a remainer yourself can't you see what great news this is for all leavers?

Are you not worried that some of the gloating remainers on here may end up laughing on the other side of their faces.

Please leave off the accusations of Remainers ‘gloating’.

The only benefit Brexit has delivered to those who voted for it is a couple of years gloating.

What other politician with any nous would want the Brexit poisoned chalice and potential ruin of their political career?

I think at this difficult time it's a case of 'needs must' now we all know what a pathetic job May is doing somebody will have to accept the "poisened chalice"

Is this an appropriate time to suggest that Tony Blair come back?    ?

Frankly we could do worse. We are, in fact, in my opinion.
