Popular Post webfact
Video: Elon Musk is INSIDE Tham Luang cave testing rescue sub Elon Musk meeting with rescuers at Tham Luang on 9 July. Image: Thai Georgraphers Facebook. American tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has revealed that he is already at the Tham Luang cave with a prototype of the mini submarine he is hoping can be used to recuse the boys and their coach who remain trapped inside the cave. "Just returned from Cave 3," Musk said in the post. "Mini-sub is ready if needed. It is made of rocket parts & named Wild Boar after kids' soccer team. Leaving here in case it may be useful in the future." Musk then posted a video on Instagram showing conditions inside the cave. Cave 3 is thought to be around 2km from where the footballers are located and is the base camp for the divers involved in the rescue mission. It is not clear yet if Musk's prototype will be used by the rescuers. On Monday, Musk shared a two videos which showed his "kid sized submarine" being tested for use in the Tham Luang cave. The radical plan would see a kid being placed inside Musk's escape pod and escorted through the labyrinth of tunnels and passageways that make up the Tham Luang cave. "Simulating manoeuvring through a narrow passage", Musk tweeted. The news comes after rescuers on Monday evening managed to extract four more boys from the cave, bringing the total to 8 now having safely left the cave. Four other boys and the 25 year old football coach remain inside, but are expected to be rescued on Tuesday. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-07-10 2 2

However what about other billionaires like Bill Gates, Tim Cook, Warren B, Paul Allen, Richard Branson etc.? Nobody ever tried to help or step-in from that group of people. Musk may have been late, but he tried and done what he could. So props to him for that. 41 6

In showing his willingness to stand behind his tech i suggest that Elon volunteer to test the protoype before the kids in the cave go in it. If its not ready, what is the point in him being here and delivering it? 5 1 1

However nobody knew how long this was going to take.. and if there is a setback now it can still take long. There were even some Dutch pumps on the way.. probably too late too. Some things just started too late but just went on because the situation could / can change (lets hope not) I think there is some self promoting going on.. no idea why as the guy is already rich and famous.

If its not ready, what is the point in him being here and delivering it? What if one of those remaining kids becomes incapacitated? What then smart guy? How long would this project have taken to produce? Days or a week, not hours. Plus fly it over personally all at his own expense. At the risk of sounding Trump like I'll just say, "Great Canadian guy, EH!". 13

Agree, but the other billionaires you mention are right to stay out of this; it is not their expertise so nobody would want them involved.

Anyway i am being cynical i realize, but there would have to literally be zero options in the entire world before any kid should be put into some protoype like this in the cave. 5

Bill Gates already does PLENTY of charity work, there are folks like this in dilemmas daily all over the world, cant be everywhere at once can they. And then of course this is something you might want to "think" about The exact size of the Crown Property Bureau is not made public, but recent estimates have run to more than $30 billion through its holdings in real estate and other investments. Popular Post AdamBernau
I cannot see any benefit of this contraption, apart from heat loss. No need to add bulk and dead air space keeping their bodies dry. A full face mask, a helmet and some exposure suit is all that's needed. If you want to keep them from hurting themselves and the rescue divers in case of panic, it would be much easier to just tied up their arms and legs. You could even go ahead and pierce their ear drums to eliminate problems equalizing their ears. Much less of a big deal than most people would think. Big downsides of Musk's rigid as well as the flexible "mini submarines" are increased bulk, air consumption (need to continuously ventilate to manage CO2 levels) and no way to supply air to the occupant in time, should there be a leak. The only way to manage that could be by increasing ventilation rate, but there is only limited air supply. Also, I would not call a couple test dives in a swimming pool proof that this design is safe enough for such an operation. Not that well thought out IMHO. 4

Spidey
Zero images of the mytical sub in Thailand. Would'nt be practicable even if it did exist. Too many tight spaces, difficult turns. Just an American whack job trying to get publicity for his failing company. Quote
Popular Post B T Justice
This could be a great back up plan if severe weather hits the area and drastically raises the water level in the cave. I agree the best course of action is to continue what is working but if circumstances change I would really like to see that thing in action. 2

When the last kid is out seal the cave, bar it off, and leave tanks everything where they are inside. Make it secure and go back in the dry season to get all the stuff out. The kids are important, forget the equipment.
