Traffic Laws In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I was wondering, well since i couldn't really find what the traffic laws in thailand were, i was thinking of an approach to this website. However, i haven't found any results to my query for traffic laws in thailand. I turned 18, six months ago and i'll be having my driving tests soon. As of now, there is a computerized version of the exam which is same as the written exam. I was given a thai traffic laws book but I don't know how to read Thai, nor can i understand much of it. Shame on me, i know. But can someone help me get the traffic laws for driving in Bangkok and acing my test? I've done an extensive search but i havent' found any. My test is tomorrow. And i'm not better off with a book written in Thai about the traffic laws. I really need help..

thanks

Gosh you've left it a bit late, I presume you are going for the tempory licence which is for a year. In my book it says there are three steps 1 application with all the evidence 2 an exam 3 get the original docs back. Srep two is amplified 1 eyesight test 2 two hours of training where you are taught the rules 3 theory test where you must get 75%. for a car that is 22 correct out of 30 questions. 4 driving test. The next chapter is appliing for the one year licence, which if you have the tempory is an upgrade with no more tests. It doesn't mention money for the tempory so I suppose it is free. If you do this in Bangkok it could be hard without language; we mostly avoid the test by having an International. The road signs are all pictures round ones mandatory, stop sign is an an octagon with stop in Thai, it is the only Octagon. square ones warnings. they all have pictures. No entry white bar on red background. Traffic lights are easier than uk they only have one light on at a time; Red stop orange prepare, and green go. I don't think you need do more that look at the book and sit Through the instruction. Oh if they ask who can stop on the yellow square with a cross in it the answer is if you are turning right, I was surprised at that. I will be up earlygetting the BBc if I can be of use , good luck.

Do a search in this forum for a post i made with a link to a motorbike forum. My connection is too slow to search at the moment. That link has Thai road rules (in english) and signs on it.
