March of the Thai black widows - but we think there could good news for Krabi house owner!

Thai Rath reporters rushed to a house in Krabi where the owner was frantically moving furniture and spraying insecticide after he was inundated by spiders.

He thought they might be the deadly black widows or at least some dastardly new Thai strain.

Somneuk Kaewjeua, 48, was so worried that he sent pictures of the spiders to a mate of his at the Songkhla Nakharin university who said they were not an expert but they might be poisonous.

However, Somneuk might have tried Google as it is often your friend.

A bit of Thaivisa investigation showed that we might have the answer. The Krabi creatures bear a resemblance to what is known as the "false widow spider".

According to a story in the UK's The Guardian newspaper from 2015 there was an outbreak of the spiders that led to the closure of a school.

They described the spiders as not being considered dangerous but having a nasty bite.

However, Somneuk.....we would always suggest that you seek a second or third opinion in such an important matter.

Orange back? Don't harm them they might be reincarnated formerly 'unusual wealthy' monks and abbots, the species under special protection, you know?
