Some notebooks have keyboard switches for WiFi which are confusing.

I remember I had a problem with a notebook with WiFi. There was an LED for WiFi and it was on - fine.

After lots of troubleshooting I found out that I had to switch on the WiFi on the keyboard.

The ON LED which I saw was red. That meant it was OFF. For ON the LED must be blue (on that notebook).

Maybe you have a similar issue.

What is the model and make of your laptop?

Don't think this is a W10 problem, but you could check the drivers. With W10, right click on the start button and click Device Manager. Make sure there are no marks beside Network Adapters.
