My understanding of this True Move code was that you get 24 hours unlimited data for a low cost (15 baht?). I swear it used to work before but now more of my data seems to be eaten up? It doesn't help that I can't read the automatic SMS you get sent after entering the code....

Does anyone know what the deal is with this, and if the offer still works?

Cheers

Yeah I did try Google....But what does a one time package mean? As said, it seems to be eating up more than the 22 baht....

I just top up at 7 / 11.. so not on contract.

That makes you a prepaid customer which this is designed for - but suspect one time means it is only available one time (for you to test) and if you like you sign up for something else.  As do not use data not really sure of wording.

OK cheers

Slightly off topic.... if I use a hotspot from my phone to connect my laptop, how quickly will this eat up my data, if at all?

First of all, what length of package do you need? Daily, a week or a month?

I don't need a package, I have PAYG. Just want to know if the *900*1965# thing is saving me any data when I type it in... or if I shouldn't bother.

That's not right...

*900*1965# is a package. So do you want unlimited Internet for one day, one week or one month?

OK... let's say one day?

Don't just say "one day" for the sake of it.

Are you in Thailand for just one day or is it that you will switch data off completely the next day?

So what is your actual usage pattern? Buying data on a daily basis can be more expensive overall.

Since you are now clearly working undercover and therefore cannot tell anything about your likely need for data, I'll leave you with this; *900*8951#

Service Charge: This package is an unlimited service with the following rates:
Package: Unlimited net speed of 512Kbps for 24 hours 22 Baht
Service Charge (THB): THB 22
Lifetime (hrs.): 24 hrs
3G / EDGE / GPRS access: unlimited (volume)
Style of payment: one-time
Internet access at maximum speed of 512 kbps (Kbps). Package size is 24 hours. You can use the internet package 24 hours after receiving the SMS.

(from Google with one correction "volume")

What is unclear about this *900*1965# ?

After tax:

22 Baht * 1.07 = 23.54 Baht

(I don't know whether they charge to the satang or do some kind of rounding)

It's not particularly good value in any case.

Found it at AIS.

512 kbit/s, 24 hours, 19 Baht (+tax).

I could not find a comparable package at AIS.

The 512 kbit/s flat is for 7 days and cost 89 Baht (+tax).

I meant that it isn't even good value for Truemove H.

They have others packs that offer much better value, but the OP seems reluctant to elaborate on his likely usage pattern.

To avoid confusion: I had edited the post after you had quoted.

Value? Usage pattern?

I sometimes use such if I am on a one day excursion.

Most of the time I am either at home (wifi) or use some free wifi.

For longer trips I book 4 or 6 Mbit/s package (1 week or 1 month).

No more hassle/rant about hotel wifi etc.

"Free wifi" not a criteria anymore.

Do you not understand the meaning of value or usage pattern?

OP asked about using the connection with his laptop. So 512 kbps could be a painful experience.

So is he referring to a one day excursion with his laptop?

If he would have just explained clearly what he needed in the first place, he would be able to move on from using ten year old USSD codes.

So rather than waste more of my precious time, I have left him with the 16.05 baht 512 kbps code....and moving to put him on ignore. Don't like rude people.

KneeDeep, what about someone who isn't undercover, what would you advise?

Last time I topped True was April, same pack for months and months and months, prepaid 12Gb per month at 799 or 899 baht, but I always go over the 12Gb, so it makes sense to get one of those 4Mbps 6 month deals, yes?

Or should I drop True and join AIS happy family? About 5 years ago AIS data used to blow hard in Pattaya, so ever since I like True, but now coverage is prolly same for all carriers. So what would you choose for high data use ?

If 4 Mbps(500 kB/s) is enough for you then it's a good option. 12 month Truemove H SIM available on Lazada.co.th for around 1300 baht.

If you don't want to wait for delivery, you can use a six month USSD code on any existing SIM(subscribe by the 31st of October) *900*9961# 1498 baht for six months of 4 Mbps.

You can test the Truemove H 4 Mbps service beforehand with a 48 hour package; *900*1753# 42 baht.

53 baht for a 48 hr 6 Mbps package; *900*1754#

64 baht for the equivalent 10 Mbps package; *900*8782#

If you like 10 Mbps, Truemove H have a 90 day package for 1445.50 baht; *900*8771#

6 Mbps/90 days; *900*8772# for 1070 baht.

For any of these packages you need to subscribe before the end of the year.

That should keep you going. ????

Thank you, KneeDeep! It is very, very big help when someone helpful is on top of the data options, to me it seems not humanly possible to keep up.

Checking the actual speed before buying 6 or 12 month is really great, and again I had no idea it is even possible. My bandwidth goes to download music, FLAC albums are 300-400 Mb each, Hi Rez DSF and DSD files are 3Gb per SACD album lol, doesn't take long to reach monthly cap. And now that US midterms are coming up, MSNBC and CNN USA live streams eat up Gb quickly..  4Mbps may not be enough, so it is really great to be able to test the speed before committing. Thank you!

I don't think you'll be happy with 4 Mbps when downloading a 3 GB file. Count on it taking at least an hour and forty minutes at full tilt.

Even 6 Mbps would take an hour and ten minutes at least;

With 10 Mbps, closer to forty two minutes. A bit more acceptable. ????  Five and a half minutes for a 400 MB file.

Of course you'll need to test to see if that bandwidth is available at your particular location.

Yep yep, I'm going to test the speed with 4 to 10Mbps with  1 day packs that you  gave USSD codes for, the codes are so good to know, going to True shops or calling them is usually pain, they often do not know their own promos, and who can blame the reps, there are 10000000 packs and promos.

Larger downloads I do at night, so no rush, but streams of stream sites can buffer badly with slower speeds, youtuubes as well, in concrete buildings especially. But it is such a relief to finally get rid of these 10Gb and 12Gb caps of 30 day packs!
