In history every dictator has been seen waiving his hands around. What is that a hope to fly

Well, we expats don't fall for it but then we expats won't be voting.

To be fair to the Thais: I don't think they fall for Prayut, either. They know what he is.

The problem is that the Thais won't (in sufficient numbers) do anything about it ...

Exactly, they didn't say Feb 24th of what year.

Now wait a minute...isn't February 24th also election day in North Korea?

Coincidence?

Apparently, it is very difficult to get a tyrant to step down, even when he states he is sacrificing his life for this burdensome office, which he has reluctantly taken (supposedly was asked twice, i.e. reluctant)

No, but you can guarantee it'll be Apocalyptic though.

‘Power to do anything’

Academics and politicians voiced concerns earlier that this stipulation essentially gives the junta the power to do anything, even nullifying the election and its results.

...and we call it "democracy" Somchai, are we clear about this?

Apocalyptic...so that would probably be the year 2020, with the election of Trump for a second term, and the election of a watch collector as Thailand's prime minister

Starting this fireworks business when we did was a good move . . . they're already selling like hot cakes. Hey, Honeypie . . . print a few million billion labels for the new Pants on Fire firework  . . . just thought of it whilst reading this thread. What colours? . . . I think red and brown will look good.

Now to see how long they can keep their thumbs on any form of 'rival' political activity in the name of "probably disorder" should 'rival' political parties be allowed to meet, no less openly campaign.

Vote counting will be done using multiple fingers an toes and the result will be announced 30th February 2020

What is so hard for a country that has I'd cards with a chip?

Stick your card in.

Press a button.

As easy as using an ATM here.

What am I saying?

But he said he had returned the watches to their owner.

Seeing will be believing.

Even if you do see it - would you believe the result?  ?

? And the winner will be announced the day before  ?

Yes as the military has now sorted it out about what parties can run  after the military's approval of their proposed men to run.

If this report is true then we know already the outcome after the elections and a few months later.... Use your common sense to guess what it will be!!!

The road map to democracy dictated by the NCPO has never been this clear, despite the junta continuously promising over the nearly five years since the 2014 coup to return power to the people.

If it is delayed anymore maybe the "people of Thailand" will wake up and realise they have the power now to change the leadership!

No government can deny a whole population.. unless they want civil unrest or worse !

There will be NO GENUINE election. Even so, the fake one will be delayed yet again. The very fact that the junta hold complete and undiminished power right up until the moment that a new 'government' is sworn in - and can even cancel the results of any election they don't like - says it all. Do people really think that with such massive, god-like power in their hands, the junta will not massively cheat? Of course they will. That is ALL they know how to do. Don't people get it yet? Do people really think criminals will suddenly change their spots and stripes and become honest men?!

Look: there is NOT GOING TO BE ANY GENUINE AND FAIR ELECTION. It's all utter nonsense, pretence and balderdash.

Thailand 4.0 is all that is important to them...And not having a elected government is standing in the way of  Thailand 4.0...So a election must be held...The election will be a complete fraud but it does not matter...The world will say Thailand has a elected government now and Thailand 4.0 can advance...

I was caught up in an occasion when I was supposed to be on a private jet to Phuket with a government minister and a celebrity. But they'd had an election the day before and he had got more votes than there were voters and had to stay behind to sort out the 'misunderstanding'. And we - the celebrity and I - had to take THAI instead.

Good .........

We have an election date ,let's keep moving forward to that ........new ideas from younger parties /old school resentment ,but all in all there's no civil war..!!  let's all get together with a strong

willing attitude of moving forward and let our wives /girl friends vote as each vote counts for the better party to win .....

Cause we can't vote an talking about not gonna help ......Houuuuwwww Bouat Dat....

The commission is obliged to ensure voting goes smoothly, he said, because if the election results are rejected, the country could risk returning to the same old conflicts.

A worthless obligation when the military keeps rejecting democratic elections.

I am sure there will be an election and the three main partys " NCPO, NCPO, and the NCPO" will work hard to win over the electorat.
