Big Joke to fly to England to interview teen who claimed rape on Koh Tao

As long as he remembers that the UK justice system is not corrupt like it is in Thailand. In the UK everything is above board - no payments accepted. Why does he not arrange a Skype type interview? And how will a visit to the UK help? Thai politics working but Thais think they are the centre of the world, other countries think differently!! They have difficulty solving their own problems -sort them out first!!!

"Will you be flying first class?"

"Of course, the owner of the bar in Koh Tao is paying my way."

"Send me a selfie from the top of the London Eye."

..LondonEye..goes round and round like everything else about this alleged crime..lets hope he gets to the bottom of it.

Under the Westminster system she can have her attorney present, and she can do all her answers through her attorney, a good attorney can tie this Thai Joke up with legal technicality every time he opens his mouth, In the end its not what the Joke thinks it will be what the British Press says, and this will be the embarrassment that the Thais will have to face

Shes not under arrest.

And most or all of them probably being Thai news media who do nothing more than regurgitate whatever tidbits the police tell them is the "truth". All in the interest of protecting tourism on KT and its revenues.

Can you read Thai? You think the Thai news media, especially newspapers, just repeat what the police say?

Nonsense.

Yes, except for local celebrities and politicians, when it involves criminal cases here, the local media here rarely seek out those involved on their own via interviews.

They just wait till the police parade whomever thru their sordid re-enactments, and then recite the police version and whatever confessions the suspects make.

Just like in this case, the local TH language media certainly could have reached out to the UK to try to contact and interview the woman in this case. But there's absolutely no indication that I've seen anywhere that they did so.  Merely just repeated whatever Big Joke was saying that day.

Poor fella-'tis a hard  row to plough but someone has to do it.

The Thai press,as we all know, revels in it's fearless reporting and its ardent desire not to graap or wai to anyone.

Asian Pulitzers-every last one of 'em.

And pray sir, what do you know about the Thai press? Can you read Thai?

Yes, one guy...

But how much of anything the mother said ever got reported in the Thai newspaper reports?

And have any Thai newspapers published their own interviews with the young woman in the wake of the original UK newspaper reports?

Don't think so...

The young woman went back to England, told or sold her story to The Sun which was then followed by an interview with The Times. Both papers are owned by the notorious digger of sleaze, Rupert Murdoch.

Now how many stringers do you think Thai newspapers have in the UK, poised to interview an alleged rape victim who has given no interviews to any other UK newspaper?

It makes me laff..

3 years ago on ThaiVisa-this was the stock standard response.

You are to be commended for your stalwart defense of the Thai press-about 1938 in a couple of major European countries.

(Germany,Russia,Italy and Spain-to name just a few..)

There is such a thing as the telephone, you know... Even the Thai police can pick up their phone and make a call to the UK. It works surprisingly well, if anyone bothered to try to do it. And things like Skype and LINE and WeChat, etc etc.

As a reporter, you don't have to be physically present in some place in order to interview a person it that place. Amazingly, it's done all the time.

Have I seen any sentence anywhere in any of the Thai newspaper reports saying the (publication) tried to contact the young woman and was unable to reach her, or did reach her or her family and they refused comment?  Don't think so.

It's easier to just sit in Thailand under a mushroom and be fertilized by the local police.

So you can't read or write Thai and thus haven't a clue as to what the Thai press or media writes or says.
