Exactly. Her lawyers will try to manipulate this case in favour of discrediting the Thai police over her giving any convincing evidence that she was raped. Also correct, it won`t be what big joke thinks, it will be the British media that will determine whether the girl is lying or not, then the feminists will jump on the bandwagon claiming the girl is another female being victimised by a male dominated system, those evil brutes, men.

In Britain the whole system will be bias against the Thai police from the moment Big Joke arrives there, probably with a whole load of leftist do gooders protesting justice for women.

Today, I read many online reports whereas it is being said that the girl`s story is bull and so it is.

Absolutely.

Maybe he can pick up a few new watches in London for Boss Hog

As long as he remembers that the UK justice system is not corrupt like it is in Thailand. In the UK everything is above board - no payments accepted. Why does he not arrange a Skype type interview? And how will a visit to the UK help? Thai politics working but Thais think they are the centre of the world, other countries think differently!! They have difficulty solving their own problems -sort them out first!!!

"... the girl is under no obligation to speak to him whatsoever".

That will do her dubious credibility a lot more damage if she refuses.

Really ? Do you think so? I don't agree....she would have nothing at all to gain by speaking to someone whom has already made his mind up and is threatening to have her arrested in Thailand and will no doubt twist everything that is said to his public audience in Thailand. If the girl has been raped then she should give him the same amount of credence and respect that he has shown her and serve him with a slander writ as soon as he touches down.

Under the Westminster system she can have her attorney present, and she can do all her answers through her attorney, a good attorney can tie this Thai Joke up with legal technicality every time he opens his mouth, In the end its not what the Joke thinks it will be what the British Press says, and this will be the embarrassment that the Thais will have to face

Shes not under arrest.

Just shows what a useless bugger he is, surely he will lose face if he goes to interview the girl.

He is hoping the UK Police and courts will have the girl punished for telling lies and discrediting Koh Tao and Thai "Keystone Cops". Well, he is earning his nickname! :clap2:

And most or all of them probably being Thai news media who do nothing more than regurgitate whatever tidbits the police tell them is the "truth". All in the interest of protecting tourism on KT and its revenues.

Can you read Thai? You think the Thai news media, especially newspapers, just repeat what the police say?

Nonsense.

I doubt it (re the truth coming out).... Too far down the road for that by now, probably.

There will be Thailand's "truth."   And then whatever the real truth is/was, we may never know.  Just my guess looking forward.

And apart from the Thai police's role, the young woman certainly didn't help the process any by waiting so long to pursue it further beyond whatever happened while she was dealing with the Thai police here.... and not at that time following other avenues that would have been available to her...

Yes, except for local celebrities and politicians, when it involves criminal cases here, the local media here rarely seek out those involved on their own via interviews.

They just wait till the police parade whomever thru their sordid re-enactments, and then recite the police version and whatever confessions the suspects make.

Just like in this case, the local TH language media certainly could have reached out to the UK to try to contact and interview the woman in this case. But there's absolutely no indication that I've seen anywhere that they did so.  Merely just repeated whatever Big Joke was saying that day.

But how much of anything the mother said ever got reported in the Thai newspaper reports?

And have any Thai newspapers published their own interviews with the young woman in the wake of the original UK newspaper reports?

Don't think so...

Poor fella-'tis a hard  row to plough but someone has to do it.

The Thai press,as we all know, revels in it's fearless reporting and its ardent desire not to graap or wai to anyone.

And pray sir, what do you know about the Thai press? Can you read Thai?

Don't think so...

The young woman went back to England, told or sold her story to The Sun which was then followed by an interview with The Times. Both papers are owned by the notorious digger of sleaze, Rupert Murdoch.

Now how many stringers do you think Thai newspapers have in the UK, poised to interview an alleged rape victim who has given no interviews to any other UK newspaper?

  • Popular Post

The original reporting on this by the Samui Times, and then by various UK media, came on or before Aug. 21 as best as I can tell. So that's more than 3 weeks ago at this point.

Since then, the vast majority of the Thai media coverage has been the police questioning the young woman's allegations, denying that they refused to take her rape report, saying they couldn't find any evidence to support her allegations, saying they've concluded their investigation already, threatening to blacklist and prosecute her for a false report, etc etc...

And now, after all that, they're sending a delegation to the UK to interview the young woman. Not like they haven't already reached their conclusions, notwithstanding the fact they've never actually interviewed the alleged victim all this time while they were publicly spouting off, don't have any information regarding the potential DNA evidence, apparently also have not interviewed the woman's traveling companions, etc etc.

You are to be commended for your stalwart defense of the Thai press-about 1938 in a couple of major European countries.

Have Thais not yet heard of video conferencing? It's been around for the last 20+ years but perhaps it hasn't arrived in Thailand yet.

There is such a thing as the telephone, you know... Even the Thai police can pick up their phone and make a call to the UK. It works surprisingly well, if anyone bothered to try to do it. And things like Skype and LINE and WeChat, etc etc.

As a reporter, you don't have to be physically present in some place in order to interview a person it that place. Amazingly, it's done all the time.

Have I seen any sentence anywhere in any of the Thai newspaper reports saying the (publication) tried to contact the young woman and was unable to reach her, or did reach her or her family and they refused comment?  Don't think so.

It's easier to just sit in Thailand under a mushroom and be fertilized by the local police.

So you can't read or write Thai and thus haven't a clue as to what the Thai press or media writes or says.
