question about blood pressure meds

My kidney Dr put me on Caraten 12.5 twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. I need to refill my prescription and will try to contact my Dr's office after 5 pm to try and get an answer to the following question. I have gone to several pharmacies and one pharmacist said I can use the Caraten 25 and just split it in two and use 1/2 the pill in the morning and 1/2 the pill  in the evening. It sounds plausible to me and was wondering what the resident expert Sheryl thought of this approach.?

As it is a scored tablet splitting it in half should be fine.

As said they are pre-cut for doing so (and easily hand split - no need for knife or cutter on the 6,25 I use).

as long as you don't stop and start betablockers, like carvidelol , that can be dangerous , eg don't allow the prescription to finish before you have a refill
