Yes, there are lots of nice people in Thailand, I agree.

And I also agree that there are too many crooked politicians and dirty cops.

The think is that most people are not always nice people and I am sure even the dirty cops will do good things from time to time.

There is seldom only good or only bad. Most people are complex, sometimes good and sometimes not so much.

just like 1+1=2 impossible not to agree with that

There are some nice people out there Colin, and good on those folks who came to your aid. If only we could get rid of the crooked politicians and the dirty cops, living here would be a real joy.

  • that's what you get for trying to impress the local totty by hot dogging around Big C, forget the Yokohama's you young tearaway, buy Michelins next time.

  • Your a brave man Colin, i can remember when i went out on my bike at first.. i was so worried about getting lost and engine problems. For you its a few steps worse because you can't help yourself. Goi

If I were there I may have bust into song whilst giving instructions matey...????

  • Popular Post

I had a blown cooler on my car in the middle of nowhere near Khon Kaen. Within 2 hrs the car was towed in a workshop and I dropped off in a resort.

Giving some cash was denied and I had to give it the child that was in the car that towed me and brought me to the resort.

Another time I was running out of fuel and immediately somebody on a scooter stopped and pushed me "the Thai way" with his foot behind my foot bar to the next Fuel station.

The 200 baht for the service (even I thought is was quite risky) was taken with a shy 'wai'

and i could list so many more situations where I got a helping hand without asking for by loading the car, carrying some heavy things and so on.

Attention towards older people? Two thumbs up for the Thai People..

I see a lot of underinflated bicycle tyres around Pattaya, people don't seem to realise you lose 1-5 psi a day

Yes,  I check my Honda tires every 3-4 weeks and they always seem to go down in pressure a lot. I am guessing that they lose about a half psi everyday.

I would say probable cause was over-inflated tyre was the cause you think. ?

The owner's manual warns against taking bends at over 150kph. More likely he was trying to show off!

I have noticed the same but was thinking 'Tourists don't seem to realise they gain 1-5 lbs a day whilst on holiday.'

Thanks for sharing Colin, always good to read a happy ending story.

Happy ending? Really? The OP did say 'even a girl working in KFC came over'... did I miss something?

And I would bet he spotted this KFC strumpet on a earlier pull as well.

Good post Colin and along with other, another reminder that yes, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the hearts of the huge majority of the locals.

Silly question, being paraplegic, i cannot move unaided, so when the tyre went bang i was stuck.

Slowly i moved the scooter to the doorway, then i needed men to lift me from my scooter to the pickup.

You are not alone.....????

What a great story by my friend Colin. It shows the level of warmth many people on this forum have towards him. And many good anecdotes appeared as a result.

Colin, you really must check the "wind" in your tires more often. (Explanation: I once told Colin about a former Thai gf who told me that she "had to put some wind (air) in her tires" to carry me on the pillion).

My girl found 1000 baht note once walking back from a restaurant. She showed her mother who told her it looked like it was lost by a poor person. Next day she donated it to the temple.

Keeper IMHO.

I've had a similar experience where they come out of the woodwork to help. Shows negative people on this forum should be ignored.

This is sooo very kneejerky...

When I read Colin's post I felt, yess... this is Thailand too!

But the true kindness of some people here, and many other good or great things, shouldn't stop anyone to point the finger to what's so blatantly wrong. To the change that is so dearly needed to make everyone's  life a great deal better.

But it should stop people from generalizing about Thais and attributing all bad things to Thais.

Complaints about stuff is normal but often it goes too far. I complain too its normal.
