Jose Mourinho met the Thai football team who were trapped in a cave earlier this year at Manchester United‘s Carrington training complex.

Manchester United tweeted upon their rescue in July: “We would love to welcome the team from Wild Boars Football Club and their rescuers to Old Trafford this coming season.”

Hope that the young boys will learn and see them in the World Cup

It's getting ridiculous now, they only do it for their own profit so the Thai will still love Man U....

Enough already!

Poor kids. After all they've been through, they're taken to a mid table club.

Watching Man V Everton - cruel and unusual punishment indeed.

Well, at least you've got the smile...

Nice touch by United. Something the lads will never forget.

Hopefully after today they can get back to the real world and normal life. Enough is enough.

Bit unfair to Everton!

About as sincere as the average bar girl smile! He's got the same habit of some hiso's - doesn't make eye contact when he initially greets and hugs them.

All part of his job for that somewhat more than average salary.

It’s a joy to see these boys having this wonderful experience.

Happy for these boys who are getting unforgettable experiences.

Hope these great trips will also boost their English levels.

When I went back to England in August, everyone I met wanted to talk about the cave rescue. It had received big coverage in all of the UK papers and on television on a daily basis. There  had been lots of photos and line drawings.explaining the layout of the cave system and what the rescuers needed to do to bring the boys out safely.

The story had caught everyone’s imagination, especially as some of those helping in the rescue were also British. People’s interest had been as strong as if the drama had been taking place in the Pennines or under the Yorkshire Dales. As parents and grandparents they knew how anxious those Thai families must have been about the boys.

It is well known ManU has a big fan base and commercial interests in Thailand. However, Mourinho, Ed Woodward and Bobby Charlton are also proud family men so it is no surprise the club would want to invite these young football players, who have been through a dreadful ordeal, to visit Old Trafford. Although I am not a ManU supporter I can appreciate that the boys must be absolutely thrilled to visit such a world famous club.

Maybe there will be commercial benefits as well. So what? Some ThaiVisa readers seem to be too keen to prove to the rest of us that they are ‘street wise’ and have seen through ManU’s “cunning plan”.

I hope the boys have a great time at Old Trafford and in England generally.

Lucky they weren't invited to see my team play Bournemouth ????

I am obviously alone in believing that the boys are now over-rewarded for their cave dwelling experience, particularly after the initial effort to protect their privacy and not interrupt their normal life style by making them celebrities. The coach in particular is beginning to slightly grate on me with the manner in which he attempts to be the spokesman for the group. But I don't want to be the one to fire the fatal shot into Bambi, so will say no more.

Some people have fame thrust upon them.

Are they doing a world tour to promote Thainess?

Others could be thinking that fame and fortune is just a cave trip away.

And where are the rescuers? After all, the footballers would be in no position to be welcomed anywhere if they hadn't been extracted from the cave.

Far from alone. But that's the media for you. Overcook everything.

Yep, ol' Jose could IMHO do no worse than persuade ol' Eddie W to sign up the Wild Boars players since they would probably wear the Man U shirt with considerably more pride than the current crop of overpaid clowns!????

Yes, poor kids - but not these. Those who work and train hard, are better and get big bag of .....

Yeh, I know a good one . . . and now that the rainy season looks like ending . . . . ????

What, all ten thousand of 'em? This visit was only to Carrington, not Old Trafford.

I thought they were going back to Thailand after their US trip ? What is going on here?  Are they doing a world tour ?
