Minivan operators appeal to Pattaya mayor to lobby PM against new safety rules

It's amazing that the drivers etc. will protest about safety. Money is all that matters, obviously.

While I agree that their call for some financial assistance, given the way it was introduced with essentially no notice is fair, they are blatantly overlooking the fact that this measure is being brou

life means nothing in Thailand only money count

Dear minibus drivers.  The new rules are a direct consequence to the continued, never-ended carnage involving minibuses.  Try driving safely and this would not have been an issue in the first place.

A lot of these guys drive like crap - most of the older vans are in a better state than the drivers (but I hate the LPG vans) - an upgrade in driver behaviour and skills is far more necessary than new vans.

But these so-called "drivers" only have themselves to blame.

This is so true these so called "drivers" have known that van coffin on wheels life is 10 years, typical Thais no future planning only think of this minute now. Now they want the Govt. to change the rules typical Thais, of course the Govt. will change the rules because the useless van/taxi drivers run the country. Govt. with no BALLS

Folks this has exactly ZERO to do with safety.....It has every thing to do with a few people getting very rich off minibus sales.....

Use your brain.....

where are the new driver safety training requirements?

Where are the new drug testing requirements?

Where are the new upgraded van/bus inspections?

Where are the new van/bus speed tracking devices?

They dont exist....

This is all about the rich getting more rich on the backs of the hard working van drivers and putting them in debt.....

If Thailand really wanted the make this work and be fair to all they would subsidize the cost of the new minibuses to help the drivers instead of throwing them to wolfs...

Minibuses are equally as safe or as dangerous as vans....

Minibuses crash just as well as vans....Not a bit of difference between them..
