We're taking either 20' or 40' container from our household in USA to Chiang Mai.

We have several lamp bases we would like to keep.  Some are tri-light types some are simple on/off types.

Are they useable once we change the bulbs to 220V?

Thanks

Maybe.

I've never seen 220V tri-light lamps here so if you want to retain that function you will either need to source suitable lamps or use a transformer and 120V lamps.

The cable, switches, plugs and lamp holders will be rated for 120V. In reality they will be just fine as the amount of insulation needed for physical robustness is far greater than that needed for actual insulation.

And for those who don't know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-way_lamp

It looks like Lazada has them:

3-way bulb

Edit: shipping from foreign country looks outrageous

The GE 97494 is 120V

I'm sure we had a low-med-high lamp in Belgium (220V country) but I don't recall if it had a 2 filament lamp. I'll have to check with a mate in Brussels.

EDIT This image is from the Lazada page, note the voltage rating on the lamp itself.

It looks as if they only work with incandescent bulbs and the bulbs are only available in 110v versions

my inclination would be (if you really like the lamp base) to convert them to a regular switch. Then if you want the different light levels go to something like the Philips Hue range and you will have many more levels to select and be using the much lower power LED as well.

if you want the 3 levels only then you can use this switch for that

Report back from Belgium, not availalble, and incandescent lamps are now illegal anyway ????

You could gut the electric part prior to shipping. You can rewire in Thailand to be suitable and safe here. Make sure they are not identical lamps. Customs tends to frown on more than one of the exact same electrical item.  If you already own used, not brand new, 14 gauge, 12 gauge, 10 gauge electric extension cords in the USA that are minus any surge protectors, I'll recommend you put them in your container. 12 years and my 100 foot and 50 foot heavy duty grounded 12 gauge and 10 gauge cables have done well in Issan. Easy to buy 2.5 or 4.0 cable here, but if you already have the extension cords, not brand new, it is far better than a pittance you would get at a garage sale when departing the USA.
