Bangkok police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a young mathematics tutor.

The body of Natthawat Piansakul, 27, with a single gunshot in the head was found Saturday night beneath an abandoned taxi on Soi Prachacheun 4 in Bang Sue district. His head was wrapped in a black plastic bag.

Police say Surasit Chanwongsakul, 30, arrested within hours, confessed to killing the tutor out of jealousy because he was dating his former girlfriend.

No charges had been filed as of press time Sunday.

Surasit was arrested at 4am Sunday, allegedly with a pistol and a roll of red duct tape in his car, after police had spoken to Natthawat’s girlfriend, Sasikan Khantapthai, 26.

The body was found in Surasit’s neighbourhood and police staked out his house, intending to apprehend him when he came outside.

He nevertheless managed to drive 100 metres before losing control of his car and crashing into roadside shrubbery.

Surasit allegedly confessed to picking up the victim on November 7, shooting him in the head and hiding the body under a broken-down taxi he had purchased. Surasit reportedly planned to move the body elsewhere in another car.

Just as he was preparing to move the body late Saturday evening, though, a construction worker noticed the corpse and alerted police.

Sasikan approached police as they were inspecting the scene and said she’d heard that Natthawat had entered a red Ford car before he disappeared. She’d also heard that her ex-boyfriend, Surasit, had recently bought a car that matched that description.

She recalled that he’d threatened to kill whoever she became involved with next.

With all the jealousy and frustrations around, people will soon have to make through background checks on potential partners to be sure no trouble is awaiting in the wings.

Suspect in tutor’s murder admits to the killing

The prime suspect in the murder of a young mathematics tutor has told Bangkok police that he killed his victim out of jealousy and anger.

He reportedly met with the victim, Natthawat Piansakul, 27, who was dating his former girlfriend, to tell him to stay away from the woman but claimed he was rebuffed rudely, according to Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Sutthipong Wongpin.

Surasit Chanwongsakul, 30, was brought to perform a crime re-enactment on Monday and told the press he would like to apologize to the victim’s mother for killing her son.

Surasit was arrested at 4am on Sunday just hours after the body of Natthawat was found with a single gunshot to the head under a broken-down taxi Surasit had purchased and parked on Soi Prachacheun 4 in Bang Sue district.

He has been charged with premeditated murder, having a gun and ammunition in his possession without permission, carrying the weapon to a public place without a sound reason, firing the gun in public place and hiding a dead body to conceal the cause of death.

Surasit didn’t know the victim personally but was aware Natthawat was dating his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend Sasikan Khantapthai. Sursait and Sasikan broke up more than a month ago.

The suspect allegedly lured the tutor to a meeting in the parking lot of a mall on November 8. An argument broke out inside Surasit’s car and he shot Natthawat when he tried to get out of vehicle.

Surasit, who claimed to carry a gun on a regular basis, insisted he acted on impulse, although he admitted to having told Sasikan that whoever she became involved with next must be careful but said this was an empty threat. Surasit hid the body under the taxi, as he planned to move the body elsewhere in another car late Saturday evening, but a construction worker noticed the corpse and alerted police.

The suspect will appear in court on Monday afternoon. Police plan to oppose bail due to the violent nature of the crime.

I am left wondering if the girlfriend of the dead man informed him that her ex-boyfriend had told her he would kill anyone she dated next. Just in the interest of full relationship discloser. RIP to the victim.

An end to the investigation maybe, just in-case they've overlooked something ???

Main cause of all crimes of passion : keegong galore.

Morals no issue. First comes fun. Hits both locals and farungs randomly. Time to reconcile with oneself, if it's not too late. Remember the old GI idiom ' no money no honey '. Taking this advice and heed to it, one would be spared from a tragic end.

Understand the words.  Not sure of the relevance to this case.  Not a case of keegong (cheating).  A case of loss of face and letting his exe's new boyfriend know who is boss in the most definite way.   Big ego small, self control and possibly small something else.   One life lost and two damaged over hurt pride. This sort of thing is a weekly occurrence here.  Had an occurrence in my own extended family last week over hurt pride but no death (yet.)  Very sad.  So many idiots controlled by false pride here.

Jealousy and lose face is to mush for a Thai man

RIP young man

I am in USA now. The first 15 minutes every night of the news is someone getting killed or murder suicide. Same when I travel to London or Paris or Capetown. No Thai men here doing the killing so jealously and losing face and emotions apply to all of us men and women including your home countrymen.

Like a child. Looking for excuse after excuse not to take any responsibly for his actions. As my old man always used to say to me, "Get good at saying no and get good at hearing it. You'll be a much happier person for it".
