Cnx to India / e-visa application?

Anyone applied online for an India e-visa? Looking for details on how smoothly the process went, time to process visa, etc. do you need your passport on hand to apply or can you just submit a scan?

It's a straight forward if overly lengthy process that took less than a week to receive last couple of times I applied. E visas are good for 60 day stay and if you need longer there is an office on Tung Hotel Road as Indian Consulate no longer accepts applications in person.

 

It's an online application so no requirement for passport on hand.
