A policeman on duty at a station in Ayutthaya found himself locked up in the detention cell on Monday night after a drug suspect called for his help to kill a snake.

The 23-year-old suspect managed to escape from the Sena district police station at 9pm after luring the officer on duty to the cell and then stepping out and locking the door.

The unfortunate victim of the ruse was Pol Senior Sgt-Major Ratchada Supawong.

Ratchada said he heard a shout “Snake! Snake!” from the cell, so he grabbed a stick and opened the door to kill it. The prisoner duly barged out and then shoved the policeman inside, making sure to lock the door.

As the alarm went up, another policeman gave chase, only to stumble and fall in front of the station and watch as the suspect disappeared into a field of tall grass about 200 metres away.

I am surprised that the policeman was awake - it must have been just after the bell had been rung.

The icing on the cake would've been the soi dog biting Sgt-Major Ratchada Supawong's fat butt.

I thought at first that the article was about a snake in the pants, but as it turned out it wasn't...

This ain't no rookie

...and by pure coincidence said officer's bank balance showed a significant increase in return for him being made the laughing stock of the RTP

That was a smart move , I will remember that if I need a plan to escape a Thai prison.

Now THAT is soooooooooo funny !

The one police officer who gave chase appears to be falling down drunk. Even when he picks himself up he is unsteady on his feet.

What a <deleted> circus, and the 2 main actors are clowns

Unbelievable

Do these police not pack guns, and can't they shoot escaping prisoners? Thailand

amazing indeed..

Geezer

Must be confusing things with how things are done at home eh?

Watching tele-tubby fall down the steps was priceless... the only thing he could catch is a cold, and that's only if someone gave it to him !!
