What are these?

Featured Replies

These pink things have been appearing all over the brick wall that divides some wetlands from my bungalow complex.  Started to see them a few weeks ago and now they are everywhere. Nothing seems to have hatched out yet but would be nice to know what is in store. Any ideas?

To the point.

Very similar looking to what's on the net.

Snails, a much feared pest in the rice fields.

There are dozens of native snail species here. Long before any of us.

Leave them be. :coffee1:

While I agree totally with you sentiment, I have so inform you this species of snail is not native to Thailand.  It comes from Africa.  It's an introduced pest species, and causes a lot of damage to rice crops.

However, it has helped the Asian openbill stork survive (where most other species have become near extinct here), as this stork finds them a good food.

Totally on board with eradication of destructive alien species. Have discussed this very topic in the Bird threads. However, most people haven't a clue about such things and all they do is kill anything and everything without a thought, nor care. This is my gripe, as you already know. Thx for the info.
