Fake 1000 baht note: Pump attendant in Surin falls for obvious copy

Sanook reported that a female pump attendant in Surin was conned by a motorist who paid with a fake 1000 baht note.

The note was folded with several others for a large fuel purchase but on closer inspection it was an obvious fake.

One side looked real enough but the other was a piece of white paper just stuck on.

The attendant - Aksorn, aged 28 - only noticed after going to the safe to bank the takings.

The police in the Prasat district of the north eastern province are investigating.

How many Female Pump Attendants does anyone know that would notice a fake note ?    The Petrol Station i use has Girls working that are more interested in chewing gum, making sure they are not missing anything by talking to their mates all the time they are 'working' and putting a large lump of plastic on my bonnet with adverts on it that i will never even bother to read.  The Girl in the cashiers office is so busy on her phone that she forgets to give the customer a receipt unless it is asked for at least twice !

The main purpose of this thing is to remind you that the fuel nozzle is still in your car, so that you don't drive away and cause damage

A few weeks ago, I almost had to take the bird from the "cash office", to show her my amount due was 1500B, not the 500B she was punching into the CC machine.  She wouldn't break eye contact with her phone... I motioned for the kid that filled the diesel.  I paid the 1500B and joked about being a "good farang" (hansum too).  Driving away I thought, how many times does this happen per day/week/month

It's amazing how dumb these attendants can be.

So many are so dumb they forget to properly reset the pump used by the scooters so the next guy gets double charged. ????

sounds like this attendant was one of those rarer 'smart' ones!

Never had it in any other country and don't want it here; i normally tell them to take it off as it can scratch paintwork.  If Thai's are dumb enough to drive off with the nozzle still in their cars then it just adds to the rest of the dumb things that they do on a daily basis !
