Things have changed a bit since then media wise.

To digress, how did that Scottish national team not go further at major competitions? Dalgliesh, Souness, Hansen etc....

A huge mystery that is....

'86 they were aging and it was too <deleted>in hot in Mexico. Lucky they didn't melt.

'82 They had the likes of prime Dalgish, Hansen, Archibald, Souness, Brasil, Wark, Strachan, McLeish, Burley. Came against one of the best Brazilian sides and Soviet Union in the group

Hansen never really got too much of a look in as Fergie preferred his Aberdeen buddies, McLeish and Miller.

Mad though considering what a ball playing CB Hansen was.

They only went out on goal difference, after losing one match in qualifying.

We were 5-0 up against New Zealand at half time then let in 2 careless ones in the second half which meant we needed to beat the USSR or go out on goal difference as I recall.

A farce...as that Scotland team of '82 belonged in the second round....not the Soviet lot.

1-0 up at the moment. Lovely pass by KdB to Torres to slot it in. The assist Deleted does it again

However, 25 minutes in now and Zinchenko and Gundogan are simply passengers. Not good enough

Doesn't help when teams just set up to defend and don't press. 70 minutes now and they need to score so think it might open up a bit

3-0, though wasn't Sterling a mile offside?

It looked close but VAR checked and gave it. They didn't put the lines up like they do in the PL so pretty hard to argue with the decision

No replay here in Argie land!

After all the recent doom and gloom, THAT was a performance!

I liked the team selection, we played great, very polished, never let them in  to the game, Walker excellent again, CBs gave confidence, Foden some lovely football, etc, etc.

Velly goood!

Did you notice how their no:15 (Caleta-Car) played at CB? Have heard some good reports and we might need someone in Jan?

Well last night I can't say that he particularly stood out. Sub'd off at 71 minutes and scored one of the lowest player ratings of the night. On that performance alone, I hope you buy him ????

The Beeb had him in their top 4! and playing 90. We talking about the same guy?

At 27 is Fabinho still not young enough to be converted into a CB. Quite amusing to see panic spreading through your ranks.... very different to the giddy days of 'we don't need to strengthen the squad'.

How about we sell you Tunazebe for 100 mil in Jan. He just kept Mbappe in his pocket for 90 mins.

Where's the panic? It makes good sense to follow possible purchases. Less chance of getting your 'pants pulled down' for 80 million quid.????

As for Tunazebe.....We'll see how  gets on against him next season when Mbappe is dressed in LFC Red!????

I like Gundog in Europe, it suits him.

I don't think we had any other choice at LB other than Zinchenko and Cancelo and Zink needs the minutes.

I thought they both played well.

Did we really, or was it a bad patch of form that most people will have forgotten about in 6 months?

There aren't many centre backs who haven't had a bad run of form. Did all those people who consigned him to the scrap heap really expect him to keep playing at such a low level forever? Probably, because they know nothing about football.

Today's fans can get away with rubbishing players as much as they want. They know that when a player returns to form, nobody will pick them up on it. Everybody will have moved on to the next media-led frenzy.

Time to reclaim your brain and think for yourself.

My bad. He did play the 90 mins but still only scored 4 on Sky. I think not a memorable player springs to mind but can only judge on last nights game
