Are we really better than the Russians, Indians, Arabs and Chinese in the eyes of Thais?
Some of the stereotypes are based on experience. I have witnessed pushy, rude Russians. My friend says it's from decades of pushing to the front of the bread line. I am talking about literally pushing others in public, from both male and female Russians. Indians have different standards of personal hygiene. Thais say they smell bad. I had a University educated Indian boss in the US who definitely had a different level of olfactory hygiene than what is considered normal in the US. So this is not necessarily low class Indians, who probably couldn't afford travel in any event. So some Indians definitely are less concerned about body odor. If I am in a tourist area I am very reluctant to talk to other Westerners, male or female. I live in a suburb with essentially no tourist attractions so I am less on my guard here although I don't initiate conversations. Single Western males are often scammers, weirdos, or tedious blowhards. (Honestly, I wasn't thinking of this forum). About Thais "They also don't share the same curiosity to learn about other people and their cultures the same way that locals might take more of an interest in those things when one travels to other countries." I don't find this to be true. My neighbors ask me questions about my home country, so does the cleaner at my condo, same thing with taxi drivers. -

Lord Mandelson’s Past Remarks on Trump Resurface Amid Ambassadorship Appointment
Well he's certainly in need of a break (according to friends) so let's hope he resigns because the lapdogs/sycophants in Labour certainly won't get rid of him. https://news.sky.com/story/sir-keir-starmer-badly-needs-a-holiday-its-no-surprise-after-unrelentingly-gloomy-news-13279368 -

Japan dethrones Thailand as top tourist spot
I've been here over 6 years, and the beach was nice, but after you've seen a few large temples and driven around a bit, it all looks the same and is very boring, especially if you choose to live in Isaan. Nothing to do besides gardening, if that's your thing. Mine are hunting and fishing. No hunting here and the fishing isn't good besides private lakes and pay to fish. It's a nice place to visit, but besides that, if you don't live near the beaches, and love that thing, it's no different than any other country place that's boring, like the US Midwest.- 1
