The Chiang Mai Highways District 1 has started providing free campsites for tourists who visit the popular Doi Inthanon mountain.

Sittharit Preedanon, director of the highways district, has prepared a site for tourists to stay overnight so that they can drive to Doi Inthanon in the morning.

It is at the kilometre marker 30+850 in Tambon Ban Luang in Jom Thong district.

Sittharit said there will be officials on standby 24 hours and drinking water and toilets for tourists.

Tourists can call the district office at 0 5328 6733 for more information.

That's so nice. The officials have been given half a sacred mountain whilst the ordinary people are allowed to pitch a tent for free.
