Enabling IPV6 on Internet Router - Any Downside / Vulnerabilites?

Unless your ISP supports ipv6, enabling it won't do any difference.

3BB doesn't provide ipv6 to home users, only CGNAT users get ipv6 thats it.

TOT no ipv6 if things haven't changed.

AIS is full ipv6 and enabled by default.

Thanks for your reply.

Thinking about it, I should have provided more info in the OP.

I have 3BB Fibre 200/100 package.

When I use my android TV box, I have been using the VPN Client option on my Asus AC86U to activate an OpenVPN connection as it seems to be more reliable than using my VPN's android app. Some of the OPenVPN profiles I use via the router require IPV6 enabled on the router to connect successfully. Hence my OP.

You can't use ipv6 openvpn profiles because of lack of ipv6 in 3bb.

Thanks for your comments.

Cant argue with you due to my lack of tech expertise on the subject.

All I know is that if I enable IPV6 or set IPV6 to Passthrough on the router I get a successful VPN connection, otherwise the connection fails if IPV6 is set to disabled (default).

My 3bb vdsl has 6to4. I just enable 6to4 tunnel in the router and vpn using ipv6 works.

Thanks for that valuable info.

As per my post above setting IPV6 to enabled or Passthrough works for me. I was just wondering about any downside or vulnerability that this option may cause.

I'm on AIS Fibre which includes IPv6 along with IPv4.  No problems.

Now I've read posts from some folks who are trying to stream video from certain pay video streaming sites they can't get the service to work until they turn off IPv6.  Easy enough to do within Windows.  Actually that's a problem with the video streaming site in that they have not transitioned to having IPv6 capability yet; not a Windows or ISP problem.
