amazon fire stick and netflix

Featured Replies

I recently decided to take the leap and pay for netflix (420bt a month). It was great more shows then i could ever imagine.

I got nice 32 inch monitors but i also got a large TV and sometimes its nicer to watch movies from the sofa on the big screen. I could have accomplished this with a HDMI cable from computer to monitor but as I already have 3 monitors hooked up to my computer and i prefered to have a remote. I went for the fire stick with remote. It was quite easy to setup (need an amazon account and netflix account).

An added benefit was that now i could connect bluetooth headsets to my TV (could not do it any other way) i must say I am pleased. The prices on Ebay are the same as those from local Thai sellers.

was thinking of ordering one of these for IPTV, anyone here do this?

What is IPTV.. a general term, or a specific provider ?

Netflix is by definition IPTV

internet Protocol television (IPTV) is the delivery of television content over Internet Protocol (IP) networks.

You must have one happy misses.

And thanks for the review!

If you have a Smart TV you can get an Android (Obviously) App for it, couple this with a decent wireless remote and you're all set.

Alternatively you can use a Chrome Cast and your Mobile/Tablet (There are other Casting devices but the advantage with the Chrome Cast is once you've "Thrown" it to your TV you can switch your Phone/Tablet off as it takes over the streaming of the content) - Chrome Cast Ultra (4K) is 3-3,500 THB, Standard Chrome Cast (1080P) is about 1/2 that.

I use an Android Box (Hi Media 8+) + a few Android Apps (Titanium, Morbius etc... Kodi is useless nowadays) that gives my endless Live TV/Video on Demand + a Chrome Cast for when I just want to watch something on YouTube and can't be bothered to use the YouTube app on the TV (I need to get a new wireless remote really, had a 3/4 size full keyboard one that came with the TV but it's stopped working).

I know a guy that sells a cracking IPTV service for 2,500 THB per year (4,500 get's you 4 devices) I run it on my TV, Chromebook, Amazon Fire Tablet & Win 10 Laptop or he provides the Android boxes I mentioned fully loaded with the latest apps (a fair few Thai ones) & access to a support forum (Start at 4,000 THB, I paid 6,000 for the 8+ one) no annual subscription required.

Don't think I'm allowed  to provide his details on here so PM me if you want his details (He offers a free 24 hour trial of the IPTV streaming service).

I looked at chrome cast but amazon fire stick is stand alone so i liked that more. Why mess around with your phone looking for stuff if you can do it all on your TV with the fire stick and remote.

anyway it all lt all depends on personal preference, netflix works great with it and youtube too. Did not check the other stuff. Given that Netflix gives me almost all of the TV series I want and I am not into watching sports its a good solution for me.

I hope not more Thais wake up to this because it would spell disaster for True.

Amazon Firesticks are great (I got one for my dad, use a Fire tablet myself & it’s no different than my Hi Media 8 box) but where the chrome cast really comes into its own is when somebody sends you a link to a video & you can just click on it, push a button & it’s playing on your tv in 4K ????

I just find having both (+ a streaming TV Service) gives me the best of all worlds ????
