Patient dies in jump from fourth floor at Chumphon hospital

By The Nation

A patient diagnosed with colon cancer died after he jumped from the fourth floor of a hospital in Chumphon's Muang district on Friday night.

Police said Boonchuay Disapong, 53, died of his injuries after he was taken to the ICU unit after the fall.

He had been admitted to the Khet Udomsak Hospital and doctors were preparing to operate to remove cancer from his colon.

Police said the man walked to the balcony at the back of his room, when his relatives left him alone, and jumped.

One can only hope that it was not the cost of the operation was more than he could afford.

May he rest in God's merciful peace!

Given the diagnosis, and the prognosis, I would prefer to do the same....but by a painless method.

Being a cancer survivor, I totally agree. Mine was caught in the very early stages, though not colon cancer. Oddly enough, it was a brain cyst that nearly killed me.....TWICE. I had both the incidents in a six month period, so I can honestly say that I am much more afraid of a hospital bill than death. 42 radiation treatments for prostate cancer and my insurance covered all but 3000 dollars;
