Water Wells and pump technology

OK, I'm going to try to explain static head, pipe ratings, pumping capabilities, borehole setup......tomorrow. I've had way too many Leos tonight!

Lots of luck.

After 40+ years in the pump industry, I've had the same thought on a few occasions - but then I woke up and realised it would be a waste of energy.

And anyway, it's all out there for anyone who has an interest to take the time to look and understand.

  • One caveat that bites some people in the butt.  The water level in your well may fluctuate wildly, depending on a number of factors including rainfall and withdrawals by others tapped into the same aq

  • Well depth is based mainly on the availability of quality water, depths vary depending on location.  Pumps for over 7/8 metres are either electric submersible pumps , line shaft driven submersibl

  • We've two drilled boreholes. One is 3" x 18m deep and is pumped from a surface-mounted pump, as far as I know this technology is fairly new here in Thailand although the principle is old news.

It'll just be my take on it.

Hope you can take the time to read this documentation, the irrelevant information may well enlighten you.

Grundfosliterature-6871.pdf

Would you like to show if and where that that range is available in Thailand? Grundfos do not import the complete range to Thailand as they told me when I spoke to one of their engineers a few months ago.

You might well be right that these may not be available in Thailand- but that is irrelevant, my comments all along have been addressing your statement, "the maximum depth for a jet pump is 30 metres" presented as if it were a fact, to which I disagreed and has now been demonstrated that greater depths are achievable.

The attached diagrams might help to clarify a few misunderstanding of water well / ground water pumping and terminology.

The pump type doesn't make any difference to the application, the pump unit could be a submersible pump, a line shaft driven well pump, water / water ejector or air / water ejector - same same result.

The OP was asking about domestic pumps to take to Laos.

I agreed that my original statement (post 10) was too simplistic in post number 18 (I can not edit past posts to correct them)

So given that the subject is The OP's request of domestic water pumps that can be bought in Thailand to be taken to Laos is there a domestic jet pump available in Thailand from places like Global House, DoHome, Thai Watsadu, (or even a specialist pump supplier in issan as the destination is Laos probably by car,) that will go deeper than 30 metres?

OK, acceptable / truce.

Don't think the OP has had his original question answered plus he hasn't been back anyway.

Well drilling / ground water pumping in Thailand is luckily very simplistic.

I can recommend Franklin submersible pumps available from HomePro, Global House. Not cheap but we're currently using a 20 year-old Franklin pump my stepson pulled out of the well at the old family home in Sing Buri. Works a treat after a little overhaul. 5,000 litres per hour.

For surface eductor pumps I recommend a Mitsan well pump. 1,000 litres per hour.

Maybe he's been lurking as he was online yesterday morning, just didn't want to disturb the flow????
