Nearby Chantaburi is a far nicer town and has great surrounding scenery.

Always found HH to be a bit of a shIthole.

 

In Isaan i would look at a river with a view.

Loei province is wonderful with possibly the best climate in Thailand and super clean air.

Nakon Phanom, nice small town feel with a wonderful view across the river.

Just got back from a 2k road trip via and inc Petchabun - very very impressive scenery. Stunning actually.
