Relocating From Phuket To Nong Khai

Recommended Posts

It looks like I might be moving to Issan! My wife is a little ill and a move back to her home town of Nong Khai is recommended by the doctor. Our intention would be to rent a house or small guesthouse/hotel to manage, preferably close to the river, (I'm aware of the mozzie issue...)

Can anyone help with useful information about Nong Khai, such as contacts for rental property or any other suggestions. We are looking for a quiet location, but still in Nong Khai itself (if that's possible).

The hotel we own in Phuket will continue to operate with a new manager.....

Thanks :o

Given your current situation, this move sounds like a sensible idea.

I can't give you any constructive advice about Nong Khai currently as I haven't been there for a while (I used to be a frequent visitor, but that was a past life)

Go there, stay in a hotel (of which there are many) and spend a few days, or even weeks, looking around. An internet forum is great for finding out which hotels are good and for moral support, but pretty useless when it comes to sorting out your life, only you can do that.

Go, take your time and check it out, it will probably be good for the pair of you to get out of the routine.

Thanks! I know NK reasonably well, but it's always good to get input from other members. We will probably rent a house for a few months whilst we check everything out.

I'm also relocating to Nong Khai. Fed up with koh Samui and looking for 2 things - a small shop/guesthouse/business for wife and family and then also land nearby (45 min or so away). Land has to be good for self-sustaining type of lifestyle. When the shit hits the fan and then the fan stops turning. Coming to scout around for a few weeks, is it worthwhile to also look west - Tha Bo, Sang Khom etc up to Chiang Khan? Thanks for any advice.
