Good evening

In the near future I plan on coming over to Thailand on a marriage visa. I`ve been teaching in Asia for a while now. I want to be here in Thailand for a long time and settle down. I have a degree but after reading the rules I am very worried about the police clearance check. 10 years ago I did something very stupid and picked up a police caution in the UK for property damage. The police saw me and did their job. Something I am very ashamed of. This would now be rehabilitated until UK rules but I know it would still show up on most police clearance checks. I`d like to know if this would stop me working at a language center and/or a public school?

I doubt you old record for property damage would affect you being able to work here. Also unless the school employing you ask for one it may not be required.

At this time the police clearance is only required to apply for a non-b visa at embassy or consulate. Since you will have a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon marriage you will not need to a non-b visa to work.

Thank you Ubonjoe. I`m still fairly new to this platform. Is it possible to delete a topic, for say, you asked a question in an inappropriate forum category?

You started out in the correct forum for you questions. But the teachers license question was best asked in the teaching forum,

Refugee from the teachers forum speaking- 'er indoors who applied for her TCT waiver within the last year  was not asked for a police check, but I suppose the school may have just thrown it into the pack without her noticing.

Thank you Slip. Appreciate you braving it over. First part of your sentence is correct.....she wasn`t ask? The second part is humour I hope.

May I ask, would that have been her first waiver?

It was her 2nd, but I checked with our administrator this morning and she was sure that TCT do not ask for police checks at this time.

Do you know for a fact that a caution will show up in a report?  I thought it was only convictions.
