Local officials were dispatched on Monday morning to inspect about 200 homes in Chaiyaphum for damage caused by a summer storm on Sunday night.

The storm caused dozens of residents in 10 villages in Thep Sathit district to run for safety. While nobody was injured, house roofs were blown out and trees toppled. A blackout resulted from power poles being toppled by the high winds.

The most severe house damage was reported at Ban Hua Saphan (Moo 2), Ban Wang Ta Tao (Moo 3), Ban Khok Sa-art (Moo 6), Ban Huai Noi (Moo ???? and Ban Khok Anu (Moo 9).

Candidate’s election billboards were also destroyed, and a tapioca-storing warehouse belonging to Sawaeng Phiewjee in Ban Yang Na Klad (Moo 1) suffered nearly Bt1 million worth of damages.

Sawaeng said the one-hour-long violent storm ripped off his house roof while he and family members huddled together in fright at a corner of the home.

“We were lucky the wind didn’t blow us away, too,” he said.

Also very strong in our area yesterday.

Things flying around but not seen considerable damage.

The makeshifts roofs in the pictures fly away easy and being dangerous.

Followed by a short but intense rainstorm.

Oh No !!!! the shock and horror at such devastating destruction. May I hazard a guess as to what will be repaired first....:whistling:

Seriously though, it must be traumatic to live in a shanty hut with corrugated iron sheets flying around. Just where do you hide.

Thankfully no one was injured.
