I have an older Asus laptop, but cannot get a lead for charging it, have been to a few dealers, and no one can help.

It is not the kind where you plug it into a small hole, it is the other kind. I put the laptop out of use about two years ago but cannot find the lead.

Anyone know where I can get one? Maybe have to wait till the next time I go to Bangkok, would Zeer or Fortune Fortune town be any good?

While I'm here, the laptop is password protected, and I have lost the password, anything I can do?

Start from a Boot-CD or USB stick or remove the hard disk and look at it from another PC.

I.e. Hiren's Boot CD

Following OneMoreFarang's advice would do it.

I am assuming you have W7 installed in the laptop you are trying to get into? Just guessing as you haven't used it for a couple of years.

If so, (I think this works for W10 as well??) once you have the power block, start the machine and keep tapping F8 until the Advance Boot Options opens.

Select Safe Mode with Command Prompt and press Enter

In the command prompt type (without the ") "net user" This will give you a list of all the users on the machine

Choose the User you want and in the next command line type "net user username" In that example, "username" would be replaced with the account name you picked. Just to be clear.

Once done, press the enter button 3 times. This will remove the login password for that account

Exit Command Prompt and restart windows normally. When (if) the login screen appears, just press enter and you should be in.

It has been a while since I have done this, but I think the above is correct. I would certainly not call this illegal as you are using proper command line entries. As said earlier, this should work for W10 as well, the only difference is getting to the Advanced Boot Options. I haven't tried it with W10.

Good Luck........................

You would need to post the model number of the Asus laptop.

I cannot do anything until I get a charging lead that will fit the laptop, so I can charge it up.

Yep, I did mention that before......................

We might be able to help source the power lead if you can provide the model number of your confuser.

OK, I still think that the following method should work as in my earlier post, certainly worth trying:

Another method you could achieve this (changing/removing login password) is by using 3rd party software. There are a lot out there, the one I am suggesting is certainly virus free (as long as downloaded from the provided link). I have also provided a link to a YouTube tutorial if needed.

Lazesoft Recover my Password Home Edition 4.3.1

This is free software for home users only.

Link for the software is:
http://www.lazesoft.com/forgot-windows-admin-password-recovery-freeware.html

Link for the YouTube tutorial is:
https://www.google.co.th/search?source=hp&ei=houEXICCOfv7z7sPzs-e4AY&q=reset+password+on+windows+10+login+screen&oq=password+reset+on+windows+10&gs_l=psy-ab.1.7.0j0i22i30l9.4915.14338..28979...0.0..0.111.2399.22j7....2..0....1..gws-wiz.....0..35i39j0i131j0i131i20i265j0i20i265.IR6yIT9f-A0#kpvalbx=1

Enjoy..............

I have no association with this software company just to be clear.

This thread is a good example that will show people who feel that they are safe behind a user's login password that they actually aren't. Someone wants to get in, they will. Think about encryption people...............

As an addition to the above post, the application will download with the name of lsrmphdsetup.exe. File size is 35.9MB. This is correct.

I lost a charging lead for an older laptop (an inherited one) and went into banana it to see if they had second hand leads..... Instead I was quickly directed to a new “universal charger” which was essentially a charger with a very large selection of plugs for connecting to the computer.

job done.... maybe 1000 Bt.

How is it possible that four days later there is no picture nor model number?

Is it really that the OP has so little respect for other members that he simply abandons his thread?
