Bridal stores

Featured Replies

Hello,

We are looking for a LOCALS-ORIENTED, INEXPENSIVE, but decent quality bridal store in Bangkok.  More of a working class affair - which both of us are.  I cannot afford to be farang priced right now.  We are having a very simple, low key marriage next month.  We plan on buying her a Thai dress and a white dress for photos.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I really am bargain hunting with this.  We're all about the honeymoon - which is in Japan- not cheap!   Any ideas would be VERY appreciated.

I know that the Burmese formal wear stores are a dime a dozen in BKK- I've been in the city many times.  But I've always avoided them.  I've never been a flashy dresser.  Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

There USED to be an awful lot of them in a road across that very infamous KhaoSarn rd-Thanao, but those shops have dwindled there slowly. Some have moved to across Ratchdamnern (the very big road), others have=-who knows.

When passing along Lard Prao rd recently-very slow, due to traffic lanes being closed to build new skytrain- I also noted a fair lot of those bridal gown-shops, but this rd is quite long and thus right now also not easy to navigate, sorry.

BKK is a giant city and there surely must be other streets/areas that have a concentration too, but I am not much interested in that.

Also: NONE of these shops are for the ''working class'' they are plainly middle class or aspiring to be. You lady to be mostlikely also is.

Yeah its funny, actually.  I am still very farang minded, to be honest.  I think I'll always be, no matter how many times I visit Thailand, or how long I stay there.  The fact is, we're foreigners.  Anyway, in Thailand, in my income bracket, I am upper middle class.  I've lived a comfortable life financially, but I've always been a worker.  Both times I wore a white collar, I was still doing very heavy physical work.  I have a sense of pride in this.  I think I'll just bring over a suit I saw here.  Not sure how it'll work over there for her - sometimes its best just to let things happen.  I have a terrible habit of over-planning every tiny detail.  Thank you!

So you like to buy a suit for 500+ us$ to use one day? And the bride will have a dress from over 1-2000 us$ for single use?

Up to you mate, i would rent them from those bridal stores....they have loads of them.

Also the wedding itself, i wouldn't do the chinese style 10 course dinner party in the morning....boy i hate those...i would do a cocktailparty at night in a hotel/restaurant somewhere...and make sure they all dress casual, not loads of pictures taken (one of all guests is enough) and let them walk around to the buffets to get their food. Those kind of weddings were my favorits, the chinese style is really no fun at all.
