Rampe is one of those success stories that the Swans have made their own...

Swans defender Dane Rampe signs new four-year contract

SYDNEY Swans defender Dane Rampe has been further rewarded for his persistence and consistency after signing a significant contract extension with the club.

The 24-year-old has inked a deal that will see him remain with the Swans until the end of the 2019 season.

The Sydney local played in the VFL with Williamstown for three seasons, and twice completed a pre-season with the Western Bulldogs, but after continually being overlooked on draft day, Rampe returned home in 2012.

At 22, Rampe won the Phelan Medal for the best player in the Sydney AFL competition and was invited down to the Swans, where he impressed, and was eventually taken with the 37th pick in the 2013 NAB AFL rookie draft.

The consistent Rampe hasn't missed a game since round four, 2013, and has averaged 16 possessions per match in 2015, filling the running defender role vacated by Nick Malceski at the end of last season.

The Swans' rising star award winner in 2013 has played 54 games and has become a vital member of coach John Longmire's defence.

Now this is a quality song..

Here is a video of me old Pops leading the chant..he was a bit confused about what day it was but he eventually got there. We snuck him into the aged care facility later that year

What a frenetic 2nd quarter in the Collingwood V Richmond game

Colingwood dominated the 1st quarter and should have been another 2 goals up at least.

Richmond came out that quarter, and kicked 8 goals. Could be the turnaround quarter to set them up this year?

Still half a game to go.

Richmond leading 59-47 at half time

Once again Friday night throws up a game guaranteed to give Tipsters a headache or two

No one like to lose the first game of the week, so this one is doubly hard because our old favourites, the seasoned veterans at letting us down, North Melbourne, are playing Essendon.

Regardless. I am backing the kangaroos to win by at least 18 points.

Unless I change my mind tomorrow giggle.gif

Yep

On paper this round looks easy enough.

I remember saying that last week thoughfacepalm.gif

North are playing pretty good footy though and I expect them

to beat Essendon

I reckon the WB could provide an upset against Freo.

Richmond versus Collingwood is a tricky one. I think

I over rated Collingwood this year when they really hadn't

beaten anyone.

Richmond have been terrible though.

I expect the Pies to get the choccies.

Good luck everyone.

I pencilled in Bullies against Freo also. Bulldogs home ground advantage.

Sydney V Geelong is at ANZ stadium, not the Swans favorite ground.

Collingwood will be hoping they can kick accurately this week.

You must've gotten the rubber out BookMan.

Collingwood V Richmond game..

game of the round i reckon..

Shame for my tipping but , oh well..

We could all be undone lads! Brissie looking to upset Port at half time

I preferred the Freo versus the umpires WB game myself.

That was a good game too.

The umpires had an off day there.

Fyfe to miss another Brownlow through suspension?

Bit of earnest urging adds colour to the competition. But,.. we are all quite dry behind the ears.

I'm hoping a fine only.

By my reckoning, he would have 18 or 19 Brownlows votes already.

Here are my goals for this week's tipping round

* A perfect 9/9 for me - x

* Other tipsters get a 4 at best - x

* Chooka stays below me on the ladder -

* I overtake Khun Willy Wonka - x

* Swans Win -

* Carlton and Collingwood lose -

* I am able to get Chimpy to take off the ST Kilda jersey chooka gifted him. 3 weeks without a wash! - ?

* I am able to watch all games - ?

Nice work BookMan.

My goals for this week's round are:

* To pick Friday nights winner - always a bummer when you get that one wrong -

* For Carnegie Joe not to put in his tips - x

* WCE to smash GC -

* GWS to destroy Carlton and for Malthouse to get the arse - 50/50

* I am able to watch all of the games I want as well. Internet being down last week meant I missed Friday's game,

2 on Sat and the last quarter of the WC/Port gamebah.gif - x Only got to watch the last quarter as power was off.

* For all of the other tipsters to have a good round, though not as good as minetongue.png -

Swans have hit the front. I hope they stay there

Friday night games for the next 2 weeks will not be who wins but what the margin will be.

Carlton V Geelong

Swans V Carlton

Geez, I know fixturing isn't easy but 6 Friday games for Carlton.....<deleted>!

And again, next Sat night we have Hawthorn versus Sydney and the Freo versus North game

at the same time.

Undefeated in the fantasy league, one game clear on top. Play ripswans next week who could take top spot on percentage. Had we played each other this week he would have been sitting on top.

Well played chooka, got away from me and I didn't have the team to run over the top... Time to make a few trades this week now that I'm back from Europe (it's bloody hard getting things in order when you're almost half a day behind...

What's the general consensus guys?

Will Stevie J go for this punch in the spuds, a fine or play on?

Mcveigh probably thought at the time it was good he already had a baby

It was a cheap shot and pointless. I think he was aiming for the stomach area.. but still...

Intentional punch, and it hit the goolies...1 week

I agree. Stevie J does too much of this cheap stuff IMO.

I reckon they should have different gradings for a hit to the sprouts.

No such thing as low impacttongue.png

Fremantle star Nat Fyfe preserves Brownlow eligibility after tripping fine

Nat Fyfe's Brownlow Medal eligibility is intact after his trip at the weekend was deemed only worthy of a fine by the match review panel, while Steve Johnson escaped penalty altogether for contact to the groin of an opponent.

The elite Fremantle midfielder's trip of Western Bulldogs' Koby Stevens was rated as intentional, low impact and body contact. It triggered a base penalty of a $1500 fine, which can be cut to $1000 with a guilty plea.

Even though the Dockers may grumble about the incident being rated as intentional - coach Ross Lyon argued the part of Etihad Stadium it occurred on was conspicuously slippery - the penalty was not any higher than it would have been had it been instead judged careless. Fyfe was only facing suspension if the impact to Stevens was rated medium or above.

Under the new tribunal rules a player is only ineligible for the Brownlow if they miss a match due to suspension. Furthermore, increased penalties for a bad record, such as Fyfe's for missing four matches in the past two years, only apply to suspensions, rather than fines.

Johnson's swat at Sydney's Jarrad McVeigh as they battled to gain possession did not result in a charge, with the panel deeming it was a legitimate attempt to get in a good position to get the ball ahead of his opponent.

Had Johnson been charged and his strike deemed intentional conduct he would have received a three-match ban that could have been cut to two with a guilty plea. Had it been deemed careless it would have triggered a fine of $2500 that could be cut to $1500.

Crucially, the latter would have resulted in Johnson missing at a match if he was found guilty of a minor offence later this season, as players can only be fined twice for such offences before suspensions apply.
