Why farangs dont fit into thailand

Consider yourself lucky!... An XL here is a tight fit for me... :coffee1:

I have noticed it has become a lot easier to find XL clothes that fit, thanks to the obesity epidemic that has puffed out the citizenry in this country. It was definitely not as easy 30 years ago. And all the Salvation Army and Goodwill stuff that ends up on sale in flea markets around the country really helps too...

  • I must admit that it does bug me that I don't fit into a medium size shirt here and have to buy XL.

OP get up off your Pattaya bar stool, get out into the real Thailand, it will amaze you what you might find.

Dear Pattayabeerbacon,    Surprising as it may seem there is more to life in Thailand than Pattaya, beer and bacon.   Rooster

Western world

So where does the West start and the East finish?

You are obviously a person with issues, but I have to admit, I think, generally speaking, you are correct. Of course, many on here will disagree.

The fact that we are known as 'farangs' says all you need to know.

Probly worth a quid.

Thailand was happy to have me and demonstrated that and still demonstrates that.  My wife is nice to me and my family and my doctor and the lady who sells bread at Lotus always says hi to me and has for 10 years.  I only go to Immigration 20 minutes a year and don't do anything illegal so what's not to like?  I didn't fit in in America.  I fit in far more here.

when moving to a new country one is supposed to adjust to the new country and not the contrary, it's a simple logical way of life, if moving to a new country and wanting the same things as in one's country of origin then better stay there

language schools will hire anyone....

More like Tower Hamlets.

Meant to be a bashing thread but its just silly. What jobs what I want to do, like most we came here to retire and time goes by even quicker if you keep yourself busy with hobbies , the gym, eating at the mall, coffee shop, female entertainment , a few beers at the local

Yes but im still of working age.

How often do you shower? So many farangs in Pattaya have terrible body odour. The Europeans over 50 seem to smell the worst. If you smell, you won’t make any real friends in Thailand.

Shower often and wear clean clothes.

Farang sometimes don't fit in because we observe and query. Thai authority (particularly) hate to lose face simply just by doing "stupid", that farang notices and calls them out!

Farang can do "stupid" but they don't lose face. Stupid when their "off their face" though! ????

Honestly people of working age are better off working in the west untill they either amass a large amount of dollars or hit the pension

But i was lonely in the western world.

Lonelyness is bad nowdays at home, even considered a health hazard worse than smoking.

as you have stated you dont have any qualifications to work so why not do something else with your time. Take up a hobby or find something you like to do, to me the only wasted space appears to be you and your attitude, easier for you to sit on a bar stool and whinge about others, get a life

People who stereotype are usually untraveled and looked down upon in their home countries.  Like what intelligent Farang is going to call out a Thai military of police officer?  ????

Well I fit into life here very well all my thai friends bye me a drink talk to me play with my kids. I live in the sticks as well I know there maybe a few odd people would like me to disappear back to we’re I come from but generally Thai people are very accommodating. Am not sure about Pattaya as I haven’t been, not my thing to be honest but crack on. The more you tell yourself ye don’t fit in the more you believe it. I dropped my wallet in Big C the other week staff were amazingly helpful and a smart chap on the chocolate and sweats spotted it handed it in, what I help he was. Got my picture taken wallet back paid for my shopping and went home. Back in UK would never of seen it again believe me.

I see alot of farangs turn to WIFI addiction, alcoholism and excess vice.

Have you ever been in walking street and looked around who is sitting half naked, WiFi addicted and pissed on the chais outside screaming welcome?

That should take the wind out of your sails.

I am not bothering these and I have a life.

I come home from Offshore and since 15 years I am welcome by my wife and my dogs. Some police friends will be coming the next day welcome me back and we are going fishing or to the Chonburi Military base for a good shooting day.

Looks you made yourself already a good reputation with the Thai people... :cheesy: :clap2:

but I will agree: there is a vast majority of Farangs that are horrible people looking down to the Thai people, calling them stupid without realizing that they are more stupid because they want to live here.

But about 1 out of 10 living the same life that I live and they are welcome within the range of close friends. All others I am not bothered because I wouldn't be in in my home country either.

I don't particularly care if I fit in or not. I see no reason to seek the approval of others. Take me as I am, and f### off if you don't like it.

Why farangs dont fit into Thailand.

"Are we all wanting to come to a place that does infact not want or need us ?"

Do you really think they don't need us? If all Farangs moved out of Thailand, and there was no more tourists, expats etc, where would all these big wigs get their income streams from? How would they afford their big

houses and fancy cars, keep their Mia Nois etc.

They may not want us, but they sure need us.

Thailand is not for young people

I have lived here full-time since I was 23. I liked  it when I was young and I still like it now that I’m old.

As for the above statement I disagree that they need us all that much.

I lived in Pattaya because of my work near Sriracha. Now that I am retired, I chose to get out of the tour bus congestion and masses of cheap tourists and move up to Khon Kaen/ people are more “real” and not a massive tourist trap- near some beautiful countryside and ( unlike the ones you meet in Pattaya ) the Isaan people are very friendly and polite. I feel very welcomed and safe here.

What is that medal for?

Do medals really need to be for something? Ever seen a photo of Britains Price Charles. his brothers, the old duke, and the rest of his clan?

Plenty medals among that lot that don't mean anything.:cheesy::cheesy:

What does ROFL mean?

Medals are not just for combat. They can also be ceremonial, comemerative etc.

All part of the pomp and ceremony, pageantry etc the UK is known for.
