Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen jointly presided over the opening of a border bridge linking Thailand’s Sa Kaeo with Cambodia’s Banteay Meancheay provinces this morning.

At the opening ceremony, held in the middle of the bridge, the two leaders pressed a button to unveil the name of the bridge.

In a brief speech, the Thai prime minister said that the bridge, which is the longest linking Thailand and Cambodia, is evidence of the longstanding good relationship between the neighboring countries, adding that the new bridge will help ease busy traffic at the Aranyaprathet-Poipet border crossing and open up another route to facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries.

BANGKOK, 22 April 2019 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha joined in the celebrations for the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge at Baan Nong Ian-Satung Bot in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo province.

The Thai premier and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen joined in the celebrations for the construction of the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge and the opening ceremony for Baan Khlong Luek railway station and witnessed the signing ceremony for the joint operation of the train between the neighboring countries as well as the handover ceremony for a diesel locomotive.

The Baan Nong Ian-Satung Bot Friendship Bridge in Aranyaprathet district will alleviate the daily congestion of cargo trucks and travels by the peoples on either side of the border through Baan Khlong Luek permanent border checkpoint in Poi Pet. The handover ceremony for the diesel locomotive which will used in the cross-border train service signified the joint land and rail development to keep the neighboring countries connected on stable, sustainable, prosperous and peaceful basis.

Following the ceremony for the Friendship Bridge, the Thai premier met with local villagers on the Thai side of the border.

Hun Sen probably thinking to himself: "Do I really have to stand next to this rookie?" lol

I'm sure they compared notes on silencing opposition.

Simply exchanging notes....Hun Sen is a professional as##ole...Prayuth is still learning....unfortunately, learning fast!

Does anyone know about the new train service from Thailand to Phnom Penh? Where does it start from in Thailand, service times, fares and time to PP?? Will there be the same border problems, refusals, at Aran Poipet or should this new train service streamline the process with less issues?
