A friend has recently submitted his passport to update his visa but would like to fly from London to Scotland-- is it ok to fly with just his BRP?  I've done the same journey on my drivers license before but I'm a UK citizen-- wondering if the rules would be different.

Whilst there’s no requirement to carry a passport for internal travel in the UK, some airlines have specific ID requirements.
Easyjet, for example, publish an indicative list which indicates that a valid, or expired, passport, a photo driving licence are amongst the acceptable forms of ID.
The list also says an EU ID card is also acceptable, so I suspect an BRP would also be.
All carriers have their own requirements, your friend might wish to check with the carriers.

Thanks for the info.  I was told not that long ago on an Easyjet flight that he'd accept a gym card if it had a picture on it-- pretty sure that's not on the official guidance hehe

Good call to check with the carrier though.  Will pass that on.
