Five top police officers in Pattaya City have been slapped with transfer orders after two night-time entertainment venues in their area were found to have operated beyond legal hours.

Also found at those places were illicit drugs and "baraku" or water-pipe smoking equipment.

Muang Pattaya Police Station superintendent Colonel Prawit Chorseng, two superintendents Pol Lt-Colonel Korm Somkanay and Lt-Colonel Manoj Wangsooseuk and two inspectors Pol Lt-Colonel Saranyapong Maithongkullathorn and Pol Major Palakorn Trachunit were transferred.

“They are now assigned to work at the Chon Buri Police headquarters for 30 days,” National Police deputy spokesman Pol Colonel Krissana Pattanacharoen said.

He added that the five police officers would also face a probe.

The Provincial Administration Department, with support from military units and relevant authorities, conducted a raid at Brazil Pattaya and 90 Bar parlours at about 4am on Saturday in response to complaints that they operated beyond legal hours.

During the operation, officials found more than 300 customers inside Brazil Pattaya. A gun, a knife, ecstasy pills, ketamine and crystal methamphetamine were found at the venue. Nearly half the customers tested positive for drugs. Also found at the scene were four underage customers. By law, pubs must not admit customers younger than 20 years of age.

At the 90 Bar, 14 customers tested positive for drugs.

The managers of both these entertainment venues now face several charges.

Ronnarong Thipsiri, a senior official from the Provincial Administration Department, said the Chon Buri governor would be asked to order the closure of Brazil Pattaya and 90 Bar for five years.

Not a single word about anyone being charged for possession of the various illicit things found. Or tested for. Or the operators. Poor reporting? Or did the police simply forget because they were tired?

At a guess most of it was likely found on the floor. Those tested positive will be charged accordingly.

Good to see they've been hit with the ultimate, harsh punishment! That'll teach them!

And that is really the crime of this country. The managers will spend years in prison for maybe just being stupid or naive, while the real criminals, get a "probe" and the owners get nothing. It's really sick.

What Iceberg?? These BS closing times are what is truly destroying the reputation of this place..

Somehow i think these rules were invented  in the first place just to allow local authorities to extract more revenues.

The only thing that will make sense to charge them with is if they knew drugs were being sold there.

Nothing wrong with the reporting, it's just you that's late to the party. Both those raids were widely reported on recently and all your questions were answered then.

"Not a single word about anyone being charged for possession of the various illicit things found. Or tested for"

By the way, in the report that you're complaining about here there was a specific reference to drug testing.

"Or did the police simply forget because they were tired?"

This OP report also confirmed what had previously been reported that the raids were not conducted by the police...."The Provincial Administration Department, with support from military units and relevant authorities, conducted a raid at Brazil Pattaya and 90 Bar"
