webfact Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Bangkok: Student on new motorcycle hits bridge and falls to death on car below Picture: Daily News A 22 year old university student on a brand new bike without plates hit the side of the Rama 4 bridge over the five way Pak Kret intersection and plunged to his death below. Pak Kret police at the scene in the Tuesday rush-hour found the lifeless body of Benjaphon Meehiran on the back of a Toyota Altis. The body had a helmet in place and there was blood coming from the nose. Up on the bridge a red Honda PCX was found on its side. There was damage to the edge of the bridge. Altis driver Somphop Phokaew, 57, said he was going to pick up his wife and child from a school in Petchkasem when he heard a loud noise and thought someone had gone into him. He got out of the car to find that a large crowd had gathered to look at the remains of the young student that had smashed his trunk and the rear window of the vehicle. A friend of the victim that arrived at the scene said that he had just bought the motorcycle and was going home from university when the accident occurred. The accident happened outside Major Pak Kret in the Nonthaburi area north of Bangkok. It has gears in the final transmission which don't change. There are no gears in the primary transmission but the ratio changes. ???? 2 1

Technically no it doesn't have "gears" it has CVT or continuously variable transmission, which is basically a couple of variable pulleys, connected by a drive belt, which adjust the faster you go. 2 3

He did not say that it puts the population into minus figures! 1 2

I think there is a fine divide in interpretation of that which I cannot decide if is crass or sympathetic. But I do lean towards one side of that divide .
Ulic Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 So, probably no experience on a bike and no license. RIP 1

Benmart Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I wasn't there and don't know the cause, only what I read. There are ample TVF experts, most likely not having witnessed the tragedy, who will opine the "facts" as they see them. Another senseless roadway death in this Land of Sadness. 1
