ILR in progress need to go back to Thailand

Hi People

Need some info and some experience from someone whose had the same problem..if possible.. ILR application is already in(2months) but my wife whose is applying for ILR father has because very ill quickly (heart attack) will she be able to go back while her visa is in progress if so how long can she go for? How is this arranged? Thanks in advance people
