Four Chinese tourists have sustained minor injuries after a tour bus accident in Kok Kloi, Phang Nga, just north of Phuket, yesterday afternoon. Newshawk Phuket reported that emergency responders headed to the scene of the accident at 4pm .

They arrived to find the tour bus in the centre-road ditch. A bus wheel was found near where the bus skidded off the road. It appears that the left-rear wheel came off whilst the bus was moving. Skid marks show that the bus dragged its left side on the road as it careered into the ditch.

Four Chinese tourists, who sustained minor injuries, were taken to hospital.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Another black mark for the Tourist Industry who still don't understand that Buses are supposed to be maintained to a high standard when they are ferrying Tourists around the country !

The big problem here is that the wheels of all the vehicles are tightened with the key "shock" whereas this tool must serve only to bring the bolts; the final tightening must always be done by hand;
if the tightening is too strong, the threading of the studs is destroyed and the wheel  separates from the vehicle without any problem.

Most of these tour buses have 2x2 wheels on both sides of the rear, so in affect 6 wheels in total..

I was on a bus from Yangon to Bagan and had steel belt seperation on one of the rear tyres which damaged the brake line and hydrolics on that wheel. Fortunately the bus had 4 independent brake systems, and we were able to continue the trip, albeit slower, with 5 wheels and 3 brake systems still operational..

with all the crap happening to the Chinese here, it's surprising to see they still coming, incentives, discounts/promotions must be appealing

A neighbor of mine in the U.S. had a tire pass by his Jeep as he was approaching a toll booth.  It was one of his rear tires!  Must have had enough weight on the front to keep it up on three wheels.

Skid marks inside the bus on seats #3,4,5 & 6 showed passengers were panicking!

Yes, but when it lost one wheel (outer) there's nothing holding the inner wheel in place. So most likely it lost both of the wheels (hard to tell from the pic though).

Sorry; far too technical to the ignorant wheel fitters of Thailand, who in the main come from the millions of uneducated idiots turned out by the local 'education' system !
