A Thai man was arrested for allegedly smuggling six migrants from Myanmar across the border into Mae Hong Son’s Khun Yuam district on Wednesday evening.

District officials stopped Pimarn Kannikar, 36, at a road checkpoint at 5pm after seeing he was riding a motorcycle.

His Burmese passenger failed to show any travel documents. Pimarn later led officials to arrest five other men he has smuggled to hide in the district.

Pimarn was charged with smuggling migrants into the kingdom while the six were charged with unlawful entry into the country. They would be deported after legal action.
